Second chance is my absolute favorite trope to read about after enemies to lovers. With Into the Blue being the second in the Wild Aces series and absolutely loving the first book, there was no doubt it would be the same for this one.
Becca and Eric's story was absolutely perfect. I usually have a bit of hesitancy with second chance and how much time is spent apart. PLUS, I'm always curious to see if they were seeing other people and whatnot during that time. I never find it believable when the main characters go that long with trying to see other people. Everything that Becca and Eric went through is something so many people can relate to especially those in a military relationship.
With Eric dealing with his PTSD and realizing that he's not fit to fly, he heads back home after 10 years. And that's where Becca comes in, the love of his life he left behind to pursue his career.
Career-wise, they're both doing great with what they wanted to do. They achieved their goals, but deep down their connection and longing for each other never completely severed.
I love second chance because the journey back together is my favorite part even though it's so emotional. After so long and they see each other, you just know that they're meant to be. They definitely have a lot of baggage to work through, but seeing Eric put everything out there was the absolute best.
Chanel is such an amazing romance author and I wish she still wrote romance, but we have one more book to go in this series. And it's definitely my most anticipated.
I wasn’t as in love with Into the Blue as I was with Fly With Me. Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was fun and a good read, but I wasn’t as in love with Eric and Becca’s story. I loved Eric and his story. I loved how he was affected so much by something that happened in Fly With Me. It was Becca that I struggled with. There was something about her that just didn’t make me love her. I did love them together because I do love a good second chance, rekindled relationship story, but something was just a tad off. Still more than just liked it, but I think I just wanted more.
Eric Jansen—call sign Thor made a terrible decision in the past when it came to Becca Madison. Now back at home to South Carolina, he realizes what a mistake he made and has to win Becca back. But Becca won't make it easy because Thor gutted her when he broke off their engagement. But will Thor make the same mistake twice?
~ This mattered. It mattered to me. I wanted to be the one left standing when he walked away and I wasn't so naive as to think sex wasn't a big part of this.
~ I'd never felt this way about anyone before. Wasn't sure I'd even felt this way about her before. Maybe it too losing her to realize just how much I needed her, the contrast between my life with Becca and my life without never clearer than in this moment.
"It wasn't you. He wasn't ready. He was young and still figuring out who he was, how to grow into the man he needed to be. He loved you so much. Always. But you wanted different things, needed different things."
~ And I could see now that, on some level, I'd been so desperate for a family that I'd put a heap of responsibility and pressure on Eric at a young age, not realizing that even though I was read for those things, he wasn't.
~ the part that I couldn't get past was that even if I chose him and left everything to follow him around the world, he didn't choose me. In fact, twice, he chosen a plane over me, over us. And I didn't want to give up everything so I could play second fiddle for his job. I wanted him to love me, and put me first, . . .
They had many battles to find happiness but even though I understood how Becca felt I still think she could have made a bit of compromise.
I wanted him to pick me (Couldn't there be a medium somewhere?)
All in all I did quite like it and can't wait for more.

I enjoyed this 2nd Wild Aces novel and thought it was a good followup to the first book. I liked the characters of Becca and Eric, and enjoyed the storyline. I also really liked seeing the familiar characters from the first book. I'm looking forward to more in this series!
