Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book. While I enjoyed the first installment of the Oni Fighters series, this one didn't have the same pull or draw as the first. Dane came off as the perfect hero, even willing to jeopardize his own career at times, for a connection to the heroine that I didn't feel as a reader. I understand the heroine's past has made her wary of men and violence; despite my sympathy toward her situation, her treatment of Dane made her an unlikable character. Finally, the writing style wasn't my cup of tea. I prefer my reads to be a bit more concise (which is a preference thing only and not meant as a slight to the author).
Natalie Gayle is AMAZING. This story was everyitng I expected from this author. Dane and Ariadne coudn't be more different especially with regards to their thoughts on violence. This story touched me emotionally and I fell hard for them and rooted for them with every turn of the page.
