A well-paced horror, with multiple layers that added texture to the story line. It had the same creepy feel of The Crazies, or A Cure for Madness. Well done!

I was really captivated by the first half of this book. It's extremely well-written, and it's obvious that the author has a way with words. The last half, however, just kind of fell flat for me. It was fairly interesting, and I really wanted to see what would eventually happen, but the reason behind the happenings got to be a bit much. It seemed that it became so complicated that it lost its ability to frighten.

With apologies to the publisher, I will not be writing a full review for The Binding as I cannot finish this book at this time. I find myself enjoying some of the glimpses I've gotten into the horror elements in the story, but the narrative is taking a very long time to hook me - and to be honest, I'm not sure if I'm even there yet. I keep picking up this book and putting it down and picking it up again, rinse and repeat, and so far the story hasn't maintained enough momentum for me to keep going. Perhaps it's a matter of mood; if I do happen to finish this book at a future date, I will be sure to update this review. For now though, I'm afraid I'll have to mark this one down as DNF. Regardless, I am thankful for the chance to check this one out!
