Carl Helman is a specialist with the CIA. Sarah Raab is a human rights activist. Their paths cross when Sarah slips on the slick sidewalk and Carl catches her. They share a cab to the train station since the weather has grounded air travel. She shares her feelings about human rights, torture, and terrorism. By. Looking at Carl, Sarah assumes he has a different opinion. They part ways when she notices she did not pay. Him for the cab or the train ticket. After a series of events, Sarah realizes life is harder than she thought and the only one that can help her is Carl.
The story has a fast pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. This book shows how you can be wrong when you make assumptions, and you should not burn your bridges in case you need to cross back over them. If you like political action thrillers, you will enjoy reading this book.
This was an interesting novel that held my attention. The plot was good but left me wanting more, as I felt the story was rushed in spots. Overall, it was a great read.
