This first novel in a planned series is intriguing enough to earn the second book a read. Protagonist Susan is smart and resourceful and her relationship with her ex, Michael, isn't as over as either of them believes. The mystery sometimes takes a back seat to Susan's personal life, but Gerst balances the two nicely.
