I like stories like this when fact is blended with fiction. Family history stories have become one of my most favorite genres to read. I thought the author did a good job with the story line. The reading was fluid and kept my attention.
This was a book I was not able to get into. Thanks for the opportunity to read it. I apologize for being so late in sending this review- I will not post a negative review on Goodreads.
I didn't think that the premise of this book sounded awful, but this book went off track so many times that I couldn't imagine that someone wrote this about their own family. I get that genealogy is a big thing at the moment. Scheller's family history is fascinating, but the writing detracts from some of the reader's interest. I was able to quickly read this because I spent about 70% of my time skimming through the story. I'm not typically a prude when it comes to sex scenes in a novel, but I couldn't stop thinking to myself that she is writing this about her ancestors . Those scenes were so random and did NOTHING for the story - so why include them? I personally could go the rest of my life without thinking about what my great-grandparents in the bedroom.
