Deirdre is an unforgettable heroine: tough but not hard; a criminal mastermind with the assets of a siren. When she finds Ewan swimming in a stream, she doesn't hesitate to rob him right down to his skin. Unexpectedly, he kind of *likes* it. There's a simmering power in Ewan that makes him uneasy: he has good cause to fear his own strength, but Deirdre gives him a reason to unleash it to protect what he loves, and in doing so, he is able to come to terms with it. Complex and subtle secondary characters complement and deepen the emotional impact. Two outrageously strong, deeply vulnerable characters meet their match in every way in this story, and the way they get to that realization—along with the off-the-charts chemistry – make it a top pick.

SUMMARY: Deirdre and her brother are barely scraping by in 18th century Glasgow. The harder she works to extricate him from his misadventures, the worse they get. Finally, they make a run for it, with unexpected help from a reluctant new Laird. But the estate of Broch Murdo holds new and different challenges that test them all, and the old ones refuse to be left behind.

The blurb sounded like an adventure I'd love but unfortunately I couldn't get into it. The story felt a bit convoluted at the beginning to me going in, and it didn't manage to hold my interest.

'A Dangerous Damsel' by Kimberly Bell is book Two in the "Countess Scandals" series. This is the story of Ewan and Deidre. I have not yet read the previous book "A Convenient Engagement", so for me this was a standalone book. Although I do want to read that book after reading this one!
Deidre is trying to help her brother once again get money he has lost. Deidre is a known survivor and does what she must to get what she needs to help him. Deidre is different from a lot of Historical Women Characters as she is more sexual and isn't afraid to you her sexual powers. Ewan is trying to deal with changes that are happen in his life but now he just met one more complication called Deidre.
These two were a great pairing I thought. I enjoyed the secondary characters and hope to see more of them. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
