Nicolette (Nic) returns home to Cooley Ridge, North Carolina to help her brother Daniel, clean out, repair and sell the family home. Their father is suffering dementia and now in a nursing home and they need to sell the house in order to continue to pay for him to stay in the nursing home. Nic sublets her apartment in Philadephia, kisses her fiance good-bye and heads home. She left town 10 years earlier, when her best friend Corrine disappeared without a trace. There were many suspicions and many lies surrounding that disappearance. Shortly after Nic returns, another girl, Annaleise Carter goes missing, swallowed up by the woods without a trace. As the police start investigating the disappearance of Annaleise, Nic is sure that this is related to the disappearance of Corrine 10 years earlier. She reveals details leading up to the event where personalities are laid bare and long held secrets finally divulged.

Nic is the narrator of this story. It is written in reverse chronological order from day 15 down to day 1 you really need to be paying attention with this twisty, breath-holding mystery which will have you second guessing all the way through. It took me awhile to get accustomed to this as I kept thinking, "but this already happened". Nic is the typical unreliable narator. She only shares parts of the story. We always wonder what she is keeping secret.

This was a story where twists and turns kept you on the edge of your seat. You thought you had it figured out, then another plot twist. It kept me guessing right to the end. All the Missing Girls is a compelling story written around the eerie backdrop of the woods of Cooley Ridge in the shadow of the Smokey Mountains. A great read for lovers of suspense and mystery.

I loved this book and thought the way it was written was brilliant!! Had a lot of "ahhh I get it now" moments. Will keep my eye out for this author in the future

This book was a bit confusing, because it was told in reverse. Although, the book did keep me interested until the end and there were some good twists in the plot. So, I did enjoy that aspect of the book. But, overall I really didn't connect with the characters. At times, I was struggling to get through this book. For me, I want a thriller to be super suspenseful and at the edge of my seat and unfortunately this book did not do that me.

This book was so suspenseful I found myself becoming anxious, nervous, and sometimes, after putting my kindle down, I couldn't stop thinking of this story. Well written, excellent characters and I so appreciated the attention to detail and how hard the author worked to make this book come alive - to make me feel as though I were right there in the book. I will recommend this everyone I know.

“People were like Russian nesting dolls - versions stacked inside the latest edition. But they all still lived inside, unchanged, just out of sight.”

Megan Miranda's All The Missing Girls is a standalone tale told in a rather unique and strange way. The story is a psychological thriller and mystery that surrounds key characters such as Nicolette Farrell, her brother Daniel Farrell, and Tyler, her ex-boyfriend who is now seeing Nic's next door neighbor Annaleise Carter. Annaleise was a key witness (10) years ago when Nicolette's best friend went missing, and was never found. After Corinne Prescott disappeared, Nic chose to leave Cooley Ridge, North Carolina behind.

“We were a town full of fear, searching for answers. But we were also a town full of liars.”

Flash forward to the present and what is being called Day 1 of this story. Here we find that Nicolette has a boyfriend, a job, and a small apartment. But, after she receives a strange message from her father, a father that has dementia, she decides to return to her families home in North Carolina to help fix up it up, and perhaps sell it to pay the bills. Shortly after returning home, Annaleise Carter disappears without a trace, and the town is once again whipped into a frenzy.

“Missing girls had a way of working their way into someone's head. You couldn't help but see them in everyone - how temporary and fragile we might be. One moment here, and the next, nothing more than a photo staring from a storefront window.”

Miranda tells her story by jumping ahead two weeks to what she's calling day Fifteen. From there, she counts backwards. It is a strange way to tell a story, but it somehow works. Things come together in a way that you wouldn't imagine they could. Besides the unique backwards counting, you still have the present, and the after everything is figure out, and what comes next. At the center of this story is three girls who were best friends, with one of them being the queen bee. But, after Corinne goes missing, there are things that just don't add up until you dissect them piece by piece, character by character.

What really happened Ten years ago? What really happened to Corinne , and now that Annaleise has disappeared, has the same thing happened to her as well? One of the things about telling a story backwards, is that you really don't have the predictability factor that often times comes with mysteries. What you really have is a dark book, that leads to questions about pretty much the entire town. Can you imagine? Living in a town where almost anyone could be guilty? Can you find it in your heart to actually forgive any of these characters after you discover what happened that fateful night in the past that drives events of the present?

WOW!! This has to be one of my top reads for the past couple years! It took me less than 2 days to read!

Told in reverse from the moment Nic returns to her home town to help her brother go through her fathers house to sell. Her senior year in high school her best friend disappeared without a trace, all that was left of her was in an evidence box in the local police station. This first chapter is Nic returning home, then we jump two weeks ahead until we find out exactly what happened to Nic's best friend. And what happens when a person's psyche suppresses a tragic night that never should have happened. This unique plot line was what drew me into novel, and never let me go.

At first I was a little concerned about the character development, as in the beginning their development was a little lack luster. But as the novel unfolded it became apparent that this was done on purpose. Everyone has secrets, past and present. You follow Nic, and her family through their journey as the past comes back to haunt them. A family that will do anything to protect each other.

All the Missing Girls is a brilliant novel full of surprises. Megan Miranda has told a story, in reverse order, that will stay with me for a very long time. I highly recommend All the Missing Girls

I am so happy to finally be able to give a book 5 stars!! This book had me at the beginning when I learned that it was set in a small town in North Carolina. Being a North Carolinian, I could definitely relate to the main character and small town life.

When I found out that this book (part of it anyway) was told in reverse chronological order, I was a little skeptical. I have a hard time staying focused on a book that jumps around. However, this book didn't really jump around. The chapters were perfectly chronological...except it went backwards. It was not hard to follow at all. In fact, I believe that the reverse order made me more curious for what happened the day before.

I loved everything about this book...the characters, the plot, the twists and turns.. It will definitely be a best book for the year!!!!

This was a great suspenseful mystery. The characters were all very well developed and the plot was filled with twists. Having readers experience the story by reading backwards served to make the plot line that much more unexpected. There were a few plot points that I felt were under-developed, but overall a great book that was hard to put down.

While I wasn't a fan of the book being told in what seemed to be backwards, I did get used to it and by day one (the end of the book) I was making connections and having several 'Aha' moments and it seemed to work. I did have to reread several times as I was worried, because of the format I would miss clues. I enjoyed the plot twists that greeted me throughout the book and I really was kept guessing til the very end. I really liked Nic and wanted it all to work out for her, and I invested so much into her I felt disappointed when I got to the end and realised what she really was.

Confusing book that jumps around in time; it was difficult to follow at times. It wasn't a difficult book to read, but it was hard to read it (pretty much) backwards. The end was a page turner, but the rest was ok.

I very much enjoyed this title. It was entertaining until the end.

I initially wasn't sure how I felt about a story that was being told backwards but it didn't take me long to flip faster and faster through the pages. You hear the story through Nic who has returned to her hometown to help fix up her father's home to sell.
10 years ago when she left her best friend disappeared and within a few days of her return another girl from their small town has now turned up missing. We learn in reverse of how Nic searches for the truth while dragging along her hot shot lawyer fiancé from the big city and her high school sweetheart who still lives in the same town.
This was such a great read!!

'All the Missing Girls' is a complex and intriguing tale of friendships gone wrong, adolescent loves and loyalties which survive over the years, small town secrets and rumours that never disappear. The process of telling part of the story in reverse is interesting but, at times, a little confusing. I think I would have preferred a chronological narration of events. Nevertheless, a good read! Thanks to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for the ARC.

Good read..not as deep as I like but still a good book

The story focuses on the abduction of two young women ten years apart, just before Nicolette left home town and when she returns.
Told in reverse chronological order from Day 15 and going back to Day 1. It takes a while to get used to reading what actually happened before in the next (previous) chapter.
Definitely worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book's descriptive, relevant nature, and I was hooked reading it until the last 10 percent. The ending felt abrupt and forced, but up until then, it was a very gripping read.

I liked how is book was written in a different manner. It started in the present and went back in time. However, at times it felt a little confusing.

The book was an enjoyable read, but not a book that difficult to put down. The ending seemed a little predictable. I also really disliked the main character, Nic. She was so two dimensional and very immature. I had a hard time deciphering whether it was the past or present with her because she never seemed to grow up. She just annoyed me. Her fiancé, Everett, was a huge tool and I kept hoping her engagement with him would be broken off.

It was a fun read, but nothing extraordinary.

I loved this novel! At first I was frustrated by the backwards-in-time format, but as I read on, I was fascinated and ended up really enjoying it; of course I wanted to start at the beginning again! When Nic returns to her hometown ten years after her best friend went missing, she is faced with her father's dementia, her old boyfriend's re-awakened interest, and the sudden disappearance of his new girlfriend. Many secrets from the past, lies, and rumors abound; we discover the truth only at the very end. Suspenseful and tightly crafted, this novel is a winner and I can't wait to read her newest one soon!

Is this a who done it? A love story? It is a neat little tied up package of secrets, a baffling book written in a format that I found difficult getting accustomed to. Something terrible has happened and seems to be revealed at the beginning of the book. Then the reader is taken forward to two weeks later in the plot. The story is told from two weeks later back to the beginning, slowly revealing details about what happened in the beginning of the book. I kept having to remind myself, with each chapter, that this was written in reverse chronological order as I kept having these deja vu moments at the beginning of each new day. Conclusions within each "day" seem insignificant to the reader until the final chapter of the book when they culminate in a way that wasn't at all anticipated. This format was a bit confusing, but in the end, very effective. If you love suspense accompanied by unexpected twists, then this is the book for you!

Thank you, NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for the ARC version of this in exchange for an honest review.
