I have been a Rachel Van Dyken fan since The Bet. She arms her characters with witty jabs to trade back and forth and with her writing style, you can picture it perfectly in your head. Her dialogue is one of my favorite parts of the Eagle Elite series. Here we have mafia bosses and kids being groomed to take over the family businesses flipping each other off behind their backs. That same witty dialogue drives the humor in The Consequence of Seduction. Shame on me for starting the series with book three. While it can be read as a stand alone, I really need to know the back story of Max.
"Like I said, it all started with listening to Max, so as I got up on shaky legs and made my way over to the bar, I had no idea I'd be sealing my fate. No clue that the plain girl twisting the straw between her pretty little fingers would destroy me." ~ Reid
Max. The perpetual thorn in Reid's side and his younger brother. For some reason, Reid can't just flash his million dollar smile and bat his beautiful eyes to land a chick anymore. He needs some new moves according to Max. However, Reid's people have another plan, to get the best PR person in town to help him with his big move to the silver screen.
Jordan is the girl nobody sees. She's invisible. Well in her mind anyway, which makes her the perfect PR person for self-absorbed actors and actresses. She doesn't need the spotlight and is fabulous at spinning a story. Unfortunately, Jordan ends up in the exact position she didn't want to ever be in, the spotlight.
"And even though I was no longer invisible to him. I'd turned into something else much worse. A game. A means to an end. And I knew it would end." ~ Jordan
Reid and Jordan start to play a tricky game of star and PR person that are now dating. It's all for show, to turn Reid into a household name, but starts to take on a life of its own, mostly due to Max's meddling.. The game is dangerous and the only thing that it will accomplish is breaking somebody's heart for real.
"Dating Reid Emory in real life was the equivalent of winning the lottery for a girl like me. A girl who, by all accounts, he shouldn't even see. But did. Possibly more clearly than anyone in my entire life even had." ~ Jordan
They are both plagued with doubt about the situation and each other. With the different backgrounds and attitudes, it seems like there is no way this relationship can work. Reid is starting to have real feelings for Jordan and all of the sudden, it isn't a game to him anymore.
"It's where logic goes straight out the window and you heart suddenly grows way too big to keep it inside your chest so you decide, the hell with it, I'm just going to wear it on my sleeve. And hope she doesn't break it. A girl like Jordan could break me." ~ Reid
That's what I absolutely loved about Reid's character. Even though he was a big star, he had the normal insecurities as any other guy. It made him seem much more genuine in his actions towards Jordan.
The book is well written from dual points of view and we are still in touch with Colton, Milo, Max and Becca, even with it being Reid's turn. Like I said, the book can be read as a stand alone, however I absolutely loved Max and need more of him.

This series. Easily one of the funniest that I've ever read. Rachel has nailed romantic comedy with these guys!! And Reid, is certainly no exception to that fact. He and Jordan are definitely right up there with the best of them.
We also get tons of page time with the rest of the gang, as well as Grandma, yes- that Grandma. Poor Reid!! But the book wouldn't be the same without everyone, Hades included! Max plays a huge role in this one, he is Reid's brother after all, but I promise the book is all about Reid and Jordan.
You cannot help but fall for Reid. Seriously, the man has some skills. Probably attributed to the fact that he's an actor, but still- he's got it. So, try as she may- Jordan really never stood a chance. But, I loved her valiant effort. She certainly matched up well with the rest of Rachel's heroines, as she was just as lively and feisty as the rest. Honestly, I don't think that these men could be with any other kind of woman, as they'd be bored to death. They need women like Jordan, Becca and Milo to keep them on their toes.
As usual, RVD knocked this one out of the park, and it gets 5 stars from me! Loved every word, and can't wait to finally get Jason's book. The poor fella needs some goodness his way!! Lol
This was my first of the Consequence series, and after reading Reid’s book, I just have to go back and read the first two. The author is very clever in this story about Reid and Jordan and adds things to a typical romance novel that make it unique and stand out from all the others.
In The Consequence of Seduction we first meet Reid. When he lands a big movie role he realizes he needs a publicist to help take his career further and help him become more successful. He is a typical Hollywood actor; a big time flirt and playboy. When he hires Jordan as his publicist, he never imagined the two would fall into a fake media induced relationship. Between the media and his brother and comedic relief character Max, this story really takes some turns. The two are the perfect pair, Reid and his brother that is.
Jordan is a publicist for some of the biggest names and when she takes on Reid she just thinks it will be the same as all her other clients. She just has to keep him on his best behavior and it should be a breeze. That is until she meets the blue-eyed man candy and the two ends up in a tabloid relationship. As the two begin to work with each other and get to know one another, they realize their feelings might be more than just client and publicist. With the media questioning everything, you just have to read this story to see if the two can actually break free from their fake relationship and have a real one, or if the media induced pairing is all it will ever be.
This is the third book in this series but can definitely be read as a stand alone. This book made me laugh so much throughout the whole book. I loved the characters Reid and Jordan but Max kept me laughing. Now that I read this one, I want to go back and read the other two. Rachel Van Dyken writes many different types of books but I always love them all. I love her writing style and her characters. The book had me hooked and kept me hooked until the end. I was one of the lucky ones to receive and ARC for a fair and honest review.
I received a copy of this book from netgalley for an honest review.
This is the third book in this series but it can be read as a stand alone. However, the other books are amazing as well so you should probably read those first.
Reid's story was just as amazing as I thought it would be. It was completely ridiculous and I loved every minute of it. And seriously what is not to love about Jordan and her crazy ever growing hair.
Overall, this book was awesome and really can't wait to see what happens next with this crazy group of people.
Rachel Van Dyken has once again proven why she is one of my favourite authors! I have loved everything she has written up until this point and this book is no exception.
I love the description and details added into every character to make them each unique in their own way. Reid and Jordan are two extraordinary characters who had me holding on to every word they spoke.
Although at first glance this synopsis and story may sound similar to something you have read before, you are definitely wrong. This book is not only unlike anything I have read before, it contains a captivating storyline I've never even wanted to read about before.
If you pick this book up, you definitely will not regret it!
4.5/5 Stars!
I loved Reid and Jordan. I liked the fact that Jordan had her own thing going on and was for the most part independent. Until of course she has to find a new place to live because of circumstances at her apartment and Max's interference with her job. Lol. I think one of my favorite parts is when Reid getting dating tips from Max. This is book three of the series and while you don't have to read the previous two in the series it is recommended. You will miss out on the inside jokes and the relationship and experiences of other couples/characters in this book. If I had to classify this book I would say it is a romantic comedy, heavy on the comedy. It is the same genre as Rachel's Bet series and even includes a hilarious Grandmom. If you haven't read the Bet series you should pick those books up as well. I don't want to just give you a run down on the same info you get from the synopsis, but what I will say is this is a book I would recommend to anyone. It is a light read that can be finished in a day. Just a warning if you read this in public be prepared to be stared at because you will constantly be laughing out loud.
I truly enjoy this book, it kept me reading till the end. I would certainly be reading more of this amazing author. I suggest you read it, you will certainly won’t be disappointed. Rachel has very unique stories to tell, and she writes them just the way I love it.
OK so if you have read any of my reviews I don't need to tell you how much I love every book Rachel writes. I went to read this book and realized I had read book 1 but not book 2 so of course I corrected my wrong doings by reading book 2 which I just loved. So of course when I started reading book 3 I was so not disappointed. This book makes you laugh the entire way through. Max's antics trying to get Reid and Jordan together is just epic! The chemistry between Reid and Jordan is just amazing. I just love how Max is the orchestrator, you just never know what he is going to come up with next. Reid of course puts up with Max because you cannot escape him. When Max gets his clutches on putting Jordan and Reid together it's just a story you cannot stop reading. I hope you laugh your butt off because I sure did!
The Consequence of Seduction is the third book in the Consequence series. It can be read a s a stand alone but characters from the first two books in this series (The Consequence of Loving Colton and The Consequence of Revenge) are interconnected throughout. It is a contemporary romantic comedy. Reid Emory is an up and coming actor who is in need of a PR person (Jordan). Through some interesting situations, they are set up by his brother Max and end up pretend dating for PR purposes. Their story is funny and sweet all in one. Jordan's portion of the story really makes you want things to work out for her. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I also recommend the Eagle Elite series by Rachel Van Dyken.
