Wasn't sure what I wanted to read so dived into Naked. I found myself wanting to find time to read more of Noah and Violet's story.
Violet has had a lot going on in her life and has taken a step back, but she soon has to step up again.
Noah is a handyman doing the house up next to Violet. I found him an enjoyable character, his way of catching Violets eye was amusing.
This book has lots of sexy moments. The story also deals with other sensitive issues including low self esteem and dementia.
I enjoyed the progression of the storyline and it was refreshing having the female the the rich one, even though money wasn't what defined her.
Sexy. Sweet. Unforgettable. I love this author and the stories she writes. Great chemistry. Undeniable attraction. Smoldering tension. Characters that make you feel everything. Highly recommended this book y'all!
I couldn't get into the story. I was really struggling with this one.
This was an okay book. This one took me a while to finish. The Characters just didn't quite work for me.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
I'm not sure about this one. I felt like I wanted to connect to Violet and Noah, but there was something that kept me at arms length watching them come together. I understood that Violet had been held back by her beauty for years, and I enjoyed watching Harper help her, but I feel like I needed her to have more confidence.
That said, I can't wait for Harper and Luke's story...they're going to be caliente.
I have bought this book in ibooks and will read and review it soon as I am a fan of the author.
Was a good opener for body and soul series an was a great read. Do like other books by this author better but will see what happens with the next book to see if it a series I will really get into.
NAKED - Gina Gordon
#1 Body & Soul
SECRET ROMANCE - 3 stars
Plot - 2.5 stars - Violet is poised to take over as CEO of a large construction company now that her father is facing failing health. But after a serious car accident, she is left with lots of scars, both physical (which mars her beauty) and mental (the death of her fiance). She decides to take a break from work and have a fling, no strings attached, lasting for 4 weeks then ending. But she ends up falling for her sexy neighbor, which causes complications she'd rather not deal with.
Writing - 3.5 stars - Gordon writes in a casual and easy style that allows the reader to immediately jump into the story. There's enough backstory to give us some reasons behind the characters' actions. There was just something lacking in this book. It didn't really draw me into the story; it was very put-downable.
Characters - 3.5 stars - The characters are quite likeable. Noah is hot and sexy, the perfect neighbor. He's thoughtful and caring, loves his family, and is full of sex appeal--the perfect romantic hero. Although when I found out he had a shaved head, that really turned me off, but I suppose that's just me. Violet is a little more interesting. Her position as an executive in a traditionally man's field requires her to have lots of confidence. But since her accident, that's lacking for her. She's using Noah to rebuild her life, and not in a bad way. He's the fling that is intended to make her feel sexy and appealing, and it works. But then the complications of their jobs create problems. Her lack of self-confidence got a little old after a while, though. In any case, their stories made sense, and we were able to understand their motives.
Title - 4 stars - I like the title. Upon first reading, it appears to refer to the obvious fact that this is a romance and there's a lot of naked time throughout their relationship, especially since Violet is letting her hair down and being a lot less subtle than she usually is in her love-making. But I liked the underlying meaning that people go through life trying to hide their true selves, either from others or even from themselves. But eventually they become figuratively naked and exposed. No matter how much they try to hide their problems, they end up sharing them when they begin to build relationships.
Cover - 2.5 stars - This is a typical romance genre cover, with sexy bodies but no color. To me, that's as unattractive as a black and white picture--no life to it.
Overview - 3 stars - I liked the characters and the complicated relationship they built. The initial anonymity made things exciting and mysterious. And as we got to know the characters that became enticing and added a bit of sexual tension. But the story didn't seem to go anywhere very fast. The whole first half focused on their "vacation" from life when they have their secret affair. The second half of the book was back to their real lives, but it was really a lot more of the same. The push-pull of their relationship was interesting, but it got old, with not a lot of new information to keep it going. And Violet's lack of self-esteem got very old, even though it was obvious that she is very capable and intelligent. Things slowed down and never really got going again. I'll read more from this author, but I'm disappointed in the start to this series.
