Hmm. I'm on the fence about this one. There were aspects I really enjoyed, mostly the closeness of the Clarke family, even if Reese thought they were too close. On the other hand, Clay was a little too wishy-washy through most of the book. I get that he was trying to make amends and that he had a lot to atone for, but my goodness, I wanted him to take a stand much sooner than he did. Watching him and Reese circle each other, both of them trying to avoid the chemistry that they clearly both felt, was fun, but it did feel a little dragged out.
The ending seemed a little rushed and unfinished, but I'm assuming there would be another book in the series? Maybe?
I have bought this book in a kindle format and will read it in due course.
I always enjoy myself when reading a Tawna Fenske book. Humor is difficult to get right on the page and there's not that many authors who are successful in doing so. Ms. Fenske is one of those very few who succeed.
I like the best friend concept of the book between Clay, Reese, and Eric. I also like the slow build for Clay and Reese to discover their feelings after such issues in their past causing mistrust and hurt feelings. Was a little put off with Eric's attitude, especially since he's remarried.
But loads of pets, including an alpaca that gave a lot of comic relief, and a grandpa as cool as Reese's are only a couple of things that made this book so much fun. Ms. Fenske can me laugh out loud every time I pick up one of her books.
