Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy. I'm a big fan of Tudor history and Lucy Worsley, but unfortunately I don't think Worsley's fiction writing style and I get along; considering she's a historian, the language in this feels far too modern. It's great that she's able to make history accessible for younger readers, but I think it is possible to do that without losing the historical hum to the writing. I'm afraid I have to DNF this one.

A straightforward and detailed take on Tudor history for a surprising audience. Strongest in research and illustrating a rich historical period, the story is a little too simple and the fictional characters are a little too forgettable to make an impact.
