Another fabulous contribution to the MG/YA game by the talented Anna Staniszewski, whose DIrt Diaries series is a must-read for preteens and younger teens learning to navigate the difficult world of information.

In this fourth book in the Dirt Diary series, things are going a bit different than Rachel Lee expected. Everything in ninth grade, that is. First of all, it feels like she and her best friend Marisol are slowly drifting apart. Thanks to the Truth Game, an app with questions about you and your friends. But hey, the answers where supposed to be set to private, now someone has tagged everyone in it and know all the answers are public..
Her boyfriend Evan is finally at the same school and she's landed her dream job decorating wedding cakes. But Brianna, Evan's sister and Rachel's former nemesis, is working at the bakery too. And Rachel is applying to be a contestant at a tv baking show for teens, but is she good enough to be counted in?

The Truth Game is a nice new addition to the Dirt Diary series, Rachel Lee is again confronted with a lot of challenges and obstacles to pass, which she handled in a fun but not always the most wise way. I must say though that I found the story a little less interesting then the previous novels. It was a bit predictable at certain point with made the plot a little less surprising. The cast of characters was again very colorful, and even the most mean character, Brianna, shows she has a heart under her mean facade in the end. Not my favorite book in the series, but I do recommend reading the series as a whole.
