The story takes place in the UK split between London and Cornwall. A picturesque setting of contrasts indeed. After Livvy's passing, three once BFFs are now two-- who happen to have also been deeply in love. That was many years ago and now the two are forced to face the past, the feelings, and eventually the future.

I started reading and initially thought this book wasn't right for me. Then it suddenly took off and I found it to be the most enjoyable, albeit bittersweet experience. KE Payne delicately handles difficult life situations with expert care and passion. Nat and Ash are in good hands.

Payne brings to life the location, the seasons, the feelings and the memories in a way that keeps them haunting-- hovering in your mind between reading sessions. Life is the antagonist here, not Ash or Nat. It's time they embrace it and make life work for them.
