Destiny will always find us. This is a story about destiny, love, and friendship, sprinkled with magic. It is about connecting with our ancestry. I recommend this heartwarming novel.
Many thanks to CreateSpace and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank-you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author, Julie Manthey for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun read that is a bit hard to pigeonhole. (That’s not a bad thing!) There’s some romance, fantasy, historical fiction and magical realism. Just when you think you have it figured out, a new twist is thrown in. This is one of those books that you just relax and go along for the ride with.
I really liked getting to know the main character, Kay Baker as the life journey she had laid out for herself takes an abrupt 180 degree turn that precipitates a return to her family in Cape Disappointment, Washington after tragedy strikes her family. She comes back from New York City as a newly minted medical doctor to help tend her ailing grandmother and perhaps fulfill her Native American tribe’s legend of generations that she will be the most powerful 'keelalle' (medicine woman) in many many generations.
The rest of the various facets of the story unfold at a nice pace. I’m not going to say much more about the plot. I’d hate to spoil the ride for anyone else. I’d just suggest that you take the time to indulge in this enjoyable story
Sorry, I didn't enjoy this book but thanks for the chance to read it.
I really enjoyed this story about love and magic. This is a powerful journey of faith, and an intriguing read..
Will Kay stay in Cape Disappointment and learn to be happy with her new found "family" and the love of her life?
Is she actually able to change the weather, and "see" to help others? Will Kay finally finish up her schooling and residency to become a doctor as her parents were so insistent on her completing?
Beautiful novel!
