I don't know why I keep downloading/requesting books that contain 'widows', but here we are again. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the last LP Dover book I read.
I've been trying to go back to my older books in my Netgalley TBR and my reading preferences have changed so much that I couldn't make it very far in this one. Just wasn't quite working out for me. At this time, I'm no longer interested in this title. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.
I have to say I really struggled with this book, while I found the characters likable, the plot and flow of this book were terrible, I tried restarting this book several times, to give it a really good try, but for me, it never clicked., but in the end, I could not finish it.
Sexy. Sweet. Unforgettable. I love this author and the stories she writes. Great chemistry. Undeniable attraction. Smoldering tension. Characters that make you feel everything. Highly recommended this book y'all!
Summer and Evan’s story was sweet.
Finally deciding to live again, Summer helps her friend by volunteering with the football team. Evan has admired Summer from afar for a long time. When she decides to give Evan a chance they go full throttle. Only problem is, someone unexpectedly close is determined to keep them apart.
LP Dover manages to weave a heartbreaking beautiful story every time that pulls the reader in from the start. The characters are well developed & realistic. The Second Chances series can all be read as stand alone books without feeling unable to follow the story. All these books are about the journey that the main characters have to take to find true love. I have read every book in this series. They have made me laugh & feel sad at different times. The plot is paced at the right speed with some twists to keep the reader engrossed in the story. There is an element of suspense in each.I absolutely loved this book & entire series.
Summer's husband was killed in an underground MMA fight two years ago and it left her in a very bad place which her sister never thought she would recover from. Since his passing, Summer finally fulfilled her dream of opening a restaurant. She felt it was a way to keep his memory alive. With the help of her sister and her brother-in-law they make the restaurant a success and now the only thing standing in her way of moving on is herself. Summer decides to return to nursing but first she needs to take some classes, and she gains some hands on experience that comes in the form of Football players. Yes, Summer has agreed to help her friend Kate by working as a nurse for the football team during the summer and she would get lots of practice in to regain her nursing career.
Evan Townsend is Kate's brother and also a friend of Summer's and he has wanted her for a while now but he knew what she had gone through with the loss of her husband. Now that Summer was working with his football team he needs to keep the other players away from her and somehow convinces her that he is the person she should be moving on with..
This was one of the absolutely best books I've ever read. It started out so sad that I was in tears by the 4th page. This is a wonderful story about overcoming fears and obstacles to be a better person. There was everything in this book. I cried, laughed, fanned myself off from the sex scenes, rooted for the hero, boo'd the villian. I hope that there will be a continuance of this book with Luke and Lara's story....Please
Have not read this book as I did not get time to read it yet. Will update the review after I have gotten a chance to read it.
Evan and Summer are featured in this story. Summer has some baggage from the loss of a previous husband and she doesn't want to care about Evan. Watching these two develop a relationship kept me interested and hoping for the best for both of them. This is a good addition to the Second Chances Series.
This is a quick, enjoyable read in the Second Chances series. I really loved the characters of Evan and Summer. I enjoyed the relationship that grew between them and the friendships that were strengthened with secondary characters. The only reason I can't give this one 5 stars is because some things are so implausible... FWIW, I'm continuing to read the series and can't wait to see what happens in the Derek's story!
3.5 STARS
L.P. Dover is always a safe bet to read. You will surely be entertained. Summer has been traumatized by the murder of her husband. She witnessed it and now 2 years later, she is finally coming to terms with what happened. She will forever love him, but it is time to move forward. With the help of her sister, Lara, she is making headway. Summer and Grayson(her husband's brother) have opened of a restaurant. This was her husband's dream. It is doing well and everything is falling into place. Evan has been waiting for Summer. He gave her time to heal. Once Summer gave the sign that she was ready, the romance escalated at the speed of light. The story is predictable but still a good read. The angst and danger keep the story interesting. There are a couple of side stories that develop into future books that I look forward to reading. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. There are crossover characters but there is no crossover story.
Summer lost her husband and is now learning to live a differnt life without him. Evan is an NFL football player and their lives are about to entwine. I really enjoyed this story watching Summer grow to a woman who had to start over and watching Evan be patient as he waited for Summer to realize and want the budding relationship between them.
