DNF, Premise was good, but I didn't find the writing or pacing work as well as I hoped for me. Skipped to end as a way to see how all was resolved. Would check out author again though.
This book, set in contemporary England, is deceptively cosy feeling. At the beginning of the book, a bride is murdered on her wedding day. The rest of the book follows the groom and his best man as they try to figure out who would have killed her. The stiff upper lips of the characters hide simmering emotions and motives that no one would guess. The twist at the end was excellent and I didn't see it coming at all.
A girl and two boys - one loves her, one is to marry her. A murder in the cathedral. What is the reason for all of this and who are the English boys?
To be frank - this is not a good book (from the literary point). Certainly not a good mystery and the ending and the logic behind the murder is unbelievable.
Good editor has been very much needed when completing this book.
But there is something "human" and approachable about the novel. I would recommend to the authoress to just write and write more, there certainly are quite good skills there, just in a need of honing.
