unfortunately, this one wasn't for me! I just wanted things to pick up quicker and this one was a little bit slower. I wanted more angst as well.

I’m always amazed when an author is able to write a historical romance with a new plot twist. I’ll admit that I didn’t guess Dysart’s secret until it was revealed to Lizzie.

Elizabeth Wilde hires Dysart (no first name, just Dysart), a Bow Street Runner to investigate her suspicions that her father is being slowly poisoned. She doesn’t want to suspect her cousin, who is pressing her for her hand in marriage, but he is so repulsive that she can’t help herself. When Lizzie’s father recovers somewhat, just long enough to plan a matchmaking house party for Lizzie and her two sisters, Dysart seizes the opportunity to become an agent in place.

I enjoyed this first in series romance.
