Unfortunately this was a big no for me. I’m learning not only are rockstar romances not for me, I’m over the manwhore trend that is increasingly popular in every single book. The hero wasn’t all that likable as he lived up the rockstar lifestyle to the fullest, never turning a groupie down. I hate how men try and excuse their behavior because of loneliness and use women in place of another. In the heroes case it’s an old friend back home. The two of course are both in love with one another but he’s off doing his thing while she’s back home living like a nun compared to him lol. And worse is she just lets his behavior go because that’s just what rockstars do smh. Then there’s the whole amnesia bit and I just checked out, didn’t care anymore lol. Just totally not for me.
This one just didn't work for me. I tried several times to finish and it just never clicked. Sorry!
Angsty and drama-filled…
Ahh, young love and all the complicated emotions that go with it. Throw in deadly tragedy and it was no wonder Nolan left the hometown that destroyed his family. Leaving behind his best friend, the one he’d loved so quietly forever, was hard but maybe not as difficult as coming back… Hailey still felt the emptiness that Nolan left behind. No word for years but here he was, at her hospital bedside, offering hope once more…
So many different tropes were found in this story and all of them had their own distinct groove. Rock star romance, where fame and obligations pushed the limit of any ‘normal’ relationship. A second chance, where Nolan had to dig into all the pain he never wanted to revisit… If did scratch my head at the why’s, I also tried not to think too much about what some plain speaking could have prevented. I wasn’t going to argue when I enjoyed their story as much as I did. The writing style was easy and hit all the right heart-felt notes while keeping the suspense bubbling along every surface. A solid first read of this author and I’m definitely looking for more of this series.
A long lost love, who ran away to be a rocker after having a nightmare happen to him. That describes Nolan Kincaid perfectly. He ran from Hailey, the one and only love of his life, to escape the life he was living. I can’t blame him. I don’t like it, but I am a believer that true love is meant to be it will happen no matter what gets in the way. Hailey and Nolan are proof that this is true.
There were a few things that left me going hmm… like how Hailey just accepts that Nolan is back without questioning him too much on why he left her without even answering a text message, how Hailey was able to go home, go out, and enjoy life without much recovery after being in a coma… okay, yea, I know this is just a book but these were things that made me go hmmm.
I truly enjoyed this entire book from page 1 to the very last page. Nolan and Hailey were fun, loving, and interesting. I look forward to more of the Pushing Limits stories. I believe each band member has their own story to tell and I can’t wait to read them.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
So I liked the read, but the end was confusing and I'm still not sure exactly what happened with Hailey.
When Nolan finds out that his childhood best friend (and love of his life) was attacked, he drops everything to go home and be there for her. Nevermind that he's supposed to be working on his band's next album. What comes next is what's expected when two old flames share close quarters with unresolved feelings.
This book had good elements and the storyline was there, but it didn't quite flow for me. Also, if the other books in the series are supposed to be about the rest of the band, I don't know that we got enough of them in this book to compel me to read the next one.
This book had everything I look for in a five star read, characters I care about and root for, a story I can't put down, and a satisfying happy ending. I loved this book and highly recommend it!!
You could feel the love between Nolan and Hailey. Both hurt and stubborn and uncommunicative they almost break each other. When they finally give in to the feelings they have for each other, there is no going back.
The mysterious attack on Hailey and the tragedy of Nolan’s past kept the story moving.
3 out of 5 stars! Five years ago, Nolan (Tyler) ran away from his hometown for L.A. to escape his past and try to make it as a rock star. Since moving he has been on the fast track for success with his band Pushing Limits, but the one person he could never escape from was Hailey who was his childhood best friend. Therefore, when he learns that Hailey was attacked and in the hospital he drops everything to be there for her. Yet being back home opens up more old feelings then he had planned .... being there again will definitely change his life though if it'll change for the better is still up for debate.
This romance was written more as a suspenseful thriller than anything else and while it was well-written, it’s because of the thriller-edge that this plot takes that it didn't keep my interest as much as I'd have liked. Nevertheless, I liked all of the characters. I liked the idea of Nolan and Hailey together. And I enjoyed the build-up for this series, which makes me curious as to how the other novels will turn out.
I really wish I could've enjoyed this novel more. As it was, both Hailey and Nolan's lives had been defined by a deadly moment from their pasts. It was horrible and very sad. And while they could've used it to help one another out, Nolan pushed Hailey away and is lucky she didn't say something along the lines of it being 'five years to late' once he returned. You can tell that they have always cared for one another. But their journey was not one that swept me away, even while I was rooting for their relationship.
With all that said, I DO recommend this novel to those looking for a suspenseful contemporary new adult romance.

This was a great 2nd chance story. Couldn't put it down. Will definitely be looking for more from this author.
Have not read this book as I did not get time to read it yet. Will update the review after I have gotten a chance to read it.
I liked this story of Noah and Hailey. Noah left Hailey behind long ago to pursue his dream of being a rock star. Now a big name, Noah rushes to Hailey's side when she is attacked. He realizes his feelings for her still run deep, and he is determined to protect her. Hailey is leery of Noah's return, but her feelings for him make it difficult to keep her distance.
Good start to a series! I liked these characters and enjoyed their love story!
This story just had too much ... stuff. In my opinion every book has to have some down time to see why a couple needs to be together or why they are meant to be a couple but this story just had so many storlines thrown into one short story that overwhelmed my senses.
