I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
I cannot image the horrors that Evangeline has gone through, so to see her fight every minute not to let her past terrorize her, and to see her moving on and making new, amazing memories, is a wonderful thing! And I love how patient, yet also not-so-patient, Hunter is to make sure she is removing those terrible memories. He has been enamored with her since the moment he saw her, so to see him get a second chance with her is fantastic.
I also like how Hunter has his own demons to face as well, and how both of these characters are able to help one another through some troubling times.
I really enjoyed this book and I'm glad I got a chance to read it!
That's is! I'm done! Hunter and Evangeline's story is absolutely everything! though it breaks my heart that Evangeline suffered the abuse by her husband, but I'm loving that it was Hunter that rescued her and cares for her, but like all of Marquita Valentine, the course of true love doesn't run smoothly, but this book does end with a HEA.
I found that the characters were more complex and interesting than the previous books in the series, but I loved it and it doesn't distract from it. The storyline was well developed and easy to fall in love with it.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review After We Fall. Unfortunately, I was unable to get into this book and, since I've not finished it, I won't be rating or reviewing here or on my blog.
This author has managed to get into my watched-out author list since recently. Her books managed to express the romance within in a perfect sense. Definitely a watch out for all NA lovers.
After We Fall is a stunning romance that will pull at your heart strings and bring them crashing down around you. There is nothing tame or normal about this story. It will rip your very soul to shreds before it puts you back together in a whirlwind that you will never want to leave. This story honestly lacks nothing when it comes to its scorching passion, unwavering tension, and intriguing suspense. I have officially put this author and this marvelous series on my favorites list.
Hunter has lived his life on the edge of darkness and pain. He knows what it’s like to see the light but never touch it. Evangeline was blindly let into a life of isolation and abuse. She knows all about being powerless and afraid. Hunter is a hardened cop who is knocked off his feet by a small yet courageous woman. He sees the breath-taking beauty that Evangeline is, but convincing her may take a zombie apocalypse. When life throw these two battered souls together, the sparks not only fly, they literally explode until all that remains is something completely inconceivable. When dreams becomes reality, can anyone trust what they see, hear, and touch any longer?
Hunter and Evangeline captivated me in every way possible. They made me feel, hope, and love right along with them. I loved seeing the big bad cop Hunter brought to his knees oh so willingly by the fierce beauty of this woman who possess more strength then most guys he knows. He wants nothing more than to encourage, love, and help her shine in a dark world that fights against the light. Showing her how incredible and precious she is turns into his mission, and he is stubborn enough to wait her out. Evangeline doesn’t need a man for strength, but she does want a man who will walk beside her and build her up. Can she find that kind of a man in Hunter, or will his unyielding determination prove to be Evangeline’s weak spot?
Marquita Valentine is a phenomenal author that has brought to life this extraordinary series that is sure to touch the heart and lives of many readers. Her characters are so incredibly ordinary and are sure to tear down your defenses as they ingrain themselves into your very being. I have loved each book that I have had the privilege to savor and enjoy. This was a marvelous experience that I will not soon forget.
The author has written a novel with strong character development that engages the reader from the very beginning and doesn’t let go until the end. A great plot line that doesn’t fail. A great read for any time, it win’t disappoint.
Evangeline has been a victim of sever spousal abuse. The night that her husband almost kills her, she ends up escaping and being rescued by a cop named Hunter. Hunter takes Evangelina to a shelter where she can heal. Hunter can't get her out of his mind though. There is just something about her.
When we meet Evangelina in the present, she is mostly healed physically, but mentally there is still a lot of work to do. Evangelina is mad at herself for even letting it get so bad with her ex. Now she is always living in fear and watching her back to make sure he is not going to come back and do something else to her.
Hunter is a very well written hero in this story and I quickly fell in love with him. Hunter has a past that haunts him as well. Evangelina and him have more in common than they realize but she is quick to guard herself from any other guys. I can totally understand how Evangelina feels and why she has the reservations about me that she does after what all she has been through.
Hunter is able to be more patient with Evangelina because of his past. He understands things that others don't because they have both been through some crazy situations. Hunter has a way to get his frustrations out and he keeps it from Evangelina for most of the story, which looking back was probably not too smart on his part.
I thought that this was a very well written story and one that deals with some serious issues. Marquita Valentine has a way with making things seem ok even if it is a sever situation you are going through.
loved everything about this book. Can't wait to read more by this author.
I have not had a chance to read this book yet. I am still working on catching up and also trying not to get too far behind on other books. I will update this review once I have read the book.
I am going through my Netgalley account and clearing up some titles, I never downloaded this book it archived before I was able to so I am unable to read and review for this reason. I apologize that I didn't know this one had been approved.

Marquita Valentine has made a name for herself - her writing style doesn't need to be compared to anyone else! Evangeline doesn't know how to trust men anymore but there is just something about Hunter, even if she should be wary. Her writing style was flawless, the storyline captivating and a must read for romance fans anywhere!
