Really liked this book. Liked the characters and story flow. Entertaining read. The banter and the interaction between characters was good reading. Some intrigue and romance make for a good read. Would recommend. Voluntarily review from ARC from NetGalley.
I loved this story!! We have the notorious Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery who finally meets his match with Bridget Crumb, his housekeeper.
Having met Valentine in the previous Maiden Lane stories, we know that he is not the most likely hero, but Hoyt made me fall in love with him. He is a broken man and it will take the right woman to see through his "front" and see the man that he can become. Bridget is just that woman. She will do anything to save her mother, including going into the lion's den.
Definitely one of my favorite of this series!! I can't wait to read the next book in the series, Once Upon a Moonlit Night.
I think this is the tenth book in this series and the one I liked the least. The reason for it is the “hero”. I just couldn’t like him. Not one bit.
Here’s the thing. Some heroes can start off as “bad boys” and the heroine can “reform” them. But there are some that no matter how much you try to “reform” the character just won’t be reformed.
There’s just something about this man that is not just off-putting, but down right unlikable. For the life of me I don’t understand why did the author feel the need to try and reform him.
At this point I’ve vested a lot of time in this series and I will definitely continue with it. All the books are well written and plotted, and the characters are phenomenal, except this hero.
If you’ve never read this author, do not start with this book. Pick any of her others and you’ll love it. Not this one.
