This is very cute! I loved every second of this book! I teach high school and I think I might use it to try to explain the importance of another language to them. That it can be frustrating but it creates a bridge to make the wide world a little smaller for everyone!

Adorable drawings and a touch of Spanish dialogue from a strong willed heroine set this story apart from it's competencia.

The concept of this book was really good. I liked the format and how the story was told.
It is a very subtle way to get the reader to learn Spanish as they read the story - the images are also excellent.

Juana and Lucas, by Juana Medina, is an excellent addition to any school or homeschool library, as its excellent (and fun!) rendering of the life of a young Columbian girl bring her culture and her personality vividly to life. Highly recommended!

When Juana discovers she must learn English at school, she sees no value in the exercise. Then when her neighbors explain all the ways English helps them, she concedes, Delightful.
