This author never disappoints. Well told story of young adults who are starting their lives in a small town, each with their own set of problems to work through. They end up each helping each other to do so, growing in the process. A lot of good advice for anyone planning on becoming a youth pastor. Excellent Christian faith scripture and lessons applied.

Galatians 6: 2 ‘Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.’

This is a very formulaic historical romance. Stella wasn't my favorite character, and I felt like this wasn't Camden's strongest book, but I still enjoyed it.

This is a wonderful historical romance novel!

I loved both of the main characters, Stella and Romulus. In some ways they are completely alike. At first meeting though the things that stood out to me were their differences. It was fun reading their story and trying to really understand their personalities.

There was a fantastic plot with a great mystery than ran throughout the book. I was very caught up in it and extremely surprised by the outcome of it. As the story progressed and difficulties were dealt with all four of the central characters matured remarkable. I was very pleased to see how some of them grew in their relationship with God.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. These are my honest thoughts.

This story was so mysterious! The tone was exactly what I was longing for when I picked up this book.

I like that the fear of water was accurately depicted. I have personal experience with this fear, and nothing seemed odd or wrong or weird about the expression of the fear and how restrictive it can be when a person who has this fear is around water. Well done, Mrs. Camden!

The sisterly love displayed in Stella was beautiful. I like that her love for her deceased sister fueled her mission of solving the mystery surrounding Gwendolyn’s death. There were lots of obstacles along the way, which naturally tested Stella’s mettle. This made for an entertaining and realistic journey.

I loved the climax obstacle too. The way the fear of water came to a head with that particular event was exquisite to behold.

Content: one profane word, pub, sensuality (heavy kissing and a lady sitting on a man’s lap; one scene only)

From This Moment is the latest stand alone novel by Elizabeth Camden. It’s published by Bethany House and was a fascinating read. Elizabeth Camden is one of my favorite authors because I can tell that she puts a lot of research and time into her novels, but her insight is woven into the story in a way that I find myself interested, not bored. The characters in this book are passionate about the publishing process: the type fonts and illustrations.

Romulus White is a part owner of a scientific newspaper in Boston. He’s been fighting his way to the top for years, and he wants to hire London artist Stella West to grow his subscribers. Stella has always been elusive to him throughout the years that he’s pursued employing her. Now, however, he finds out that she’s in Boston too, and he continues his search.

Stella West is impressed yet annoyed by Romulus’s pursuit, but she has more important things on her mind. Her sister has recently passed away, and Stella suspects foul play, so she seeks employment at the same place where her sister worked before her death, hoping to find clues.

I really liked this book from Ms. Camden; it was better than Until the Sunrise but still not as good as, in my opinion, The Lady of Bolton Hill or Against the Tide. The characters were quirky, and I didn’t actually like Romulus too much, but I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the plot. Overall, I would still recommend it, but perhaps not to a reader new to Elizabeth Camden.

Thank you so much to Bethany House publishers and Net Galley for providing me with an electronic copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own and were not required to be positive, nor was I compensated in any way other than receiving the book itself.

Today, you get two the price of one. Well, more accurately, two reviews in one spot. I have been a fan of Elizabeth Camden ever since I read Against the Tide a few years ago. Let's face it, her covers are stunning. I loved Summer Dreams: A From This Moment novella (which by the way is free on Kindle at the moment). We meet Clyde Brixton, and cousins Evelyn and Romulus White.

Then, I went straight into reading From This Moment because of #teamromulus of course.

Her next release To the Farthest Shores is next and is in my teetering "to be read" pile.

From This Moment is full of skullduggery and there is a murder to solve. We get to know Romulus's story (swoon) and find out more about Clyde.

The whole murder mystery thing had me on edge, but unlike some other suspense mysteries, this one has plenty of romance to make this little reader happy. Although there is plenty of suspense, mystery and plot twists, I loved it—I think I chewed a nail or two. Phwew!

The book is set in Boston and I love how Elizabeth Camden brings the city alive. I love it, even more, when I learn more about the history of a place through a story. In this case, I learned more about the construction of the subway system in Boston, this book starts in March 1897.

Anyway, I found Romulus to be charming and wonderfully unique, yet somewhat insecure.

I'd suggest though that you too read the novella first. It really is good to know their backstory.

As per usual, reading one of Elizabeth Camden's books is not merely "reading a book", it is full immersion into another dimension, another world.
From This Moment is a delightfully enchanting historical fiction suspense read- more along the lines of a murder mystery, with some good characters and a well-developed plot. Give it a go if you like a slightly more suspenseful, grungy, historical fiction read!

I had high expectations for this book, but I was pretty disappointed. It was just ok.

Another review that I forgot to write until now, so it's a bit hard to remember the story fully and I can only go off my notes. I thought the romance escalated a bit too quickly at times, but I still really enjoyed the story. I liked the historical elements and the mystery surrounding the sister's death was interesting.

All in all, good story and characters.
