I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. I requested this book because I am all about contemporary teen fiction right now. While the storyline seemed interesting, it was painfully slow and I just did not get into it.
The combination of a strong female main character and her love of science brings together two trending topics in a charming coming of age story. It's not an intense book, but rather a slow burn tale of self-discovery that will surely resonate with young girls.
This is one of the rare books that I adored the main character (though not at first. it took me a while to see that her unrelatability was intentional) but everything around her just sort of fell flat. Great character growth, but not 'my' book.
The death of her sister has shaken Carrie to the core. It seems that when Ginny died the whole family fell apart. Carrie is starting to come back to life and see the things she has done in her grief. Can Carrie find her way back to living again? Or will her grief and regrets drown her? Great., moving story of loss and regrowth.
