Silver Girl is about a story so far removed from any of my lived or shared experiences that I can, in all honesty, say just getting into the first chapter was bewildering. I think this works for another audience, but in my case, I skimmed those pages mostly, and ended up unconnected- I saw the excerpt and would recommend checking that out. Based on other people*s reviews, this is an enjoyable story, but it fell flat for me. Sorta dry, lots of tell instead of show, but also, introspection and friendship as a focus.. I guess it depends on what you*re expecting and in the mood for. :)

Elin Hildebrand's Silver Girl is the story of Meredith Martin Delinn, a wealthy wife of a billionaire husband who discovers that her family's wealth comes from fraud and corruption. While her husband is facing criminal charges, Meredith escapes to Nantucket and runs into old friends and her old boyfriend. As Meredith faces social isolation, snubs and her change in status, she also slowly comes to terms with her life. As she slowly discovers what she most values, we come to care about this unlikely heroine of sorts.
Elin Hilderbrand delivers an engrossing read with characters that you come to care about.
