Great book but skip softcover & ebook. You’ll retain more info reading the hardcover and you’ll want to return to some entries again & again.
A great book, especially in paper, though I definitely prefer the website for searchability. The photos were great. This is exactly the kind of book I want more of! Weird or offbeat travel is great.
ATLAS OBSCURA is my favorite travel book ever published. In fact, I had to run out and buy a print copy of this book to have in addition to the ebook version.
My ultimate bucket list would be to visit every single place described within the pages of this book.
Unique and fascinating, every single person on the planet should have a copy of this book.
Photography is stunning and the descriptions of each place will have even the most reluctant traveller wanting to hop on a plane or jump in their vehicle to go exp!ore these destinations and oddities for themselves.
Since we are in the middle of the Covid19 epidemic right now, this is the perfect time to buy this book and to travel from the safety of your own home.
10 out of 5 Stars and I 100% recommend this book.
As a history teacher, I love to tell stories of the adventures the missus and I undertake when we travel...& Atlas Obscura is no exception. I found myself right down little notes of places that we missed and places that we should go next time. Great compilation of the things found on their website and good coffee table book to have.
Turgid prose in too many parts, sorry to say. My students who review with me all struggled to keep reading it, which is odd for them--and a sign to me that this isn't what some others might think it is, including me. Sorry!
Random and disproportionate representation of places, which is not a criticism but a notation. A useful adjunct to the website. Enjoyable and fascinating to thumb through for armchair travel and bucket list making.
We ended up ordering a few copies for our library system and the patrons love looking through this very unique atlas.
Fun - though it skims the surface. I was hoping for more details.
