What can I say about Icing by Kelly Jamieson, it’s such a hot read that it will melt the pages of the book.

I enjoyed the complex relationship between Duncan and Amber, their internal conflicts made it feel real, and overall made the story much more believable and entertaining.

Awww, Duncan's story! I really loved him in the first book and was curious to read who we was going to be paired with.. He was a decent, big-hearted country boy who protected and helped those he cared about, but he was not the most confident nor the most experienced when it came to romance. I loved reading his story. There was humor, sizzling-hot chemistry and a little drama. I liked Amber well-enough although she did get on my nerves at times. Thankfully, she always managed to redeem herself by recognizing that her behavior was out of line. Ultimately, she recognized she was wrong in her assumptions about professional athletes.

This time around, I felt like the author did a great job of establishing and developing Duncan and Amber's connection. Sure their chemistry jumped off the page, but it was their connection that sold me on this pairing. I loved how Duncan and Amber's interactions ranged from the light and funny to the more emotionally-charged ones.

I also enjoyed reading about the different secondary characters and getting updates on past couples as the series continues. I am looking forward to reading the next book. It seems the more books I read about the Aces hockey team members the more interested I become in reading their stories.

Unfortunately, after trying many of these books, this author's voice/writing style doesn't work for me. I have tried numerous books of hers and it just doesn't work for me. I have found many hockey romances that work for me, so I know the sport romance side of it isn't a "new" thing for me - but I don't really connect with this author's style.

She's a bland writer, with a surface scratching depth. I want that depth. When I try to look deeper into the storyline, I'm just not feeling it. I like being able to sink into a book, to get lost in the words, and be able to fall in love with the characters, and on these books I just couldn't.

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Just a solid read. Duncan and Amber are perfectly suited, but they are fighting it. Amber doesn't want a relationship with a professional athlete after her history. Watching her realize that Duncan is nothing like her father was a lot of fun. And while they both needed to work on communication, it was fun watching them figure it out.

Duncan is a pro hockey player but at heart he's just a country boy having a hard time finding love. I hated seeing women try to make him be something he wasn't when all they cared about was his status and the things he could buy them so I loved seeing him finally find his match in Amber.

I really enjoyed Duncan and Amber’s story. I loved how down to earth Duncan was and how independent and hardworking Amber was. I really wasn’t a fan of book one so I am very happy to have enjoyed Off Limits (novella) and Icing as much as I did. I hope that the series continues to improve.

Duncan, NHL player for Chicago Aces who happens to be Lovey’s (first book from the series) brother. He is country boy at heart but all the girls he has been out only saw popular, good looking and rich hockey player. When he felt he was taken advantage of his wealth, he brakes up with his current girlfriend and heads to his teammate’s bar Sin Bin where he meets new girl Amber.
Amber was trying her best to earn much tip as she can while she can and she models on the side. She was trying to finish her degree and support her mother at the same time.. There isn’t enough hours in a day for her. She was fiercely independent and wanted to stand on her own but she will have to wait until she graduates.
When Amber sees Duncan, she didn’t know who he was and they strike a conversation right away. Both were interested and wanted to know more about each other.
But Amber had one rule, not to date any professional athletes. She lived privileged life in LA until everything went bad and she left her mother in LA to start new life in Chicago.
Duncan also never wanted to date a model.
She definitely didn’t not want Duncan to be professional athlete but when she finds out he was one, she wanted to break it off. Duncan wanted to show her that he was down to earth so he takes her to hole in a wall kinda place for their first date.
Amber slowly opens to the idea of dating Duncan. He feels different about Amber than any other girls he has been dating. But every time he wants to get to know her, she pulls away from him and he wonders why. When he wants to shower her with gifts, she doesn’t accept.
Both were falling for each other but Amber’s mother finds out about her relationship with Duncan and comes to visits her. Everything was falling into place until she reveals what she wanted from her relationship. Duncan can’t believe what he heard from her mother. Everything is turning for the worst for both. What will they do?? Overcome their fear and accept each other.

I did enjoy reading this book. This Chicago Ace Hockey series are good so far. I can’t wait to read about Duncan’s other teammates. Amber and Duncan’s relationship was cute and romantic.

One of my FAVE genres is sports romance. And the Aces Hockey Series is no exception! I know NOTHING about hockey - except it's played on ice or a field and the "ball" is a puck. That's it. But that didn't detract from my love for this book and this series at all!

Icing is Duncan's story. If you read Major Misconduct, you know Duncan and most of the other characters on the Aces Hockey Team. You don't have to read the other books first but you should read Major Misconduct, just as a lead-in to Duncan's story and the friendships the teammates have.

Not going to lie, I was a huge fan of Amber - and not just because we share a name. Amber is a strong, independent woman who doesn't want to be "taken care of" by Duncan or any other man. She works multiple jobs just to make ends meet. And that's why I admire her.

Duncan is a farm boy from Wisconsin living in Chicago. In just reading his POV, you can tell he's not just a typical pro-athlete, "pimp/player". And that makes him more loveable.

I can't wait to read more of this series!!!! Please write more soon Ms Jamieson!!

We all know I like to start my reviews by thanking NetGalley and Random House Loveswept for providing us with a copy of these books so that we could bring you this review.

Well what can I say about the 3 sexy hockey players other than WOW... I mean these are books 2-4 of the series and having already been in love with the Ace's hockey team how could I not be anxious to read the other books. I love Duncan and his innocent sexiness. What do I mean by that simple... he doesn't know how sexy he really is and things he innocently says that make him so much sexier is fantastic, I love it. Amber and her father's past was a little sad, but it helps her become the person that she is so much that its what makes her perfect for Duncan. Sidney reminded me so much of one of my favorite shows Bar Rescue and how in that show they are helping bars improve, which is what Sidney does for a living. It made me laugh how Rupp starts to fall in love with Sidney and doesn't even realize it, but once he does I love how he tricks her into giving them a chance to have a relationship. Now I have to say that I started to read Tanner's book before I read Rupp and Sidney's so I was looking forward to what was going to happen at the end of Top Shelf. Now let me get to Tanner and Katelyn... which I will say was my favorite book of all them. I guess we all know how I feel about second chance love stories, but the fact that Katelyn is kind of like the antithesis of what Tanner believes in is awesome. She helps him see how things can be different. My heart breaks at one point for the things that Tanner has had to endure when he was young.

I give these three books a combined total of 4.75 body checking kisses...

Happy Reading... Adri
