I read this book a bit ago. I apologize for just getting the review.
4 Stars.
This book was very dry snd a VERY slow read. Almost bogged down in details. It was a very important read of a little known time in history.
Another story of an American Calvary unit killing Native Americans this time 230 of mostly elderly, children, and women who were camped under the supposed protection of the government yet Colonel Covington on the morning of November 29 1864 decided to attack these sleeping people. Still to this day there are questions as to why. Even back then there were two investigations and though money was spent we as a so-called Nation say we do not do or believe in ethnic cleansing yet this is a perfect example and on top of that people want to not even speak about this or talk about it in history books like it didn’t happen bulls**t I say. This book and story need to be read and told just to see what hatred still lies out there. A very good read.
