I wanted to like this one but it just was way too on the surface. Plus the lying made me uncomfortable. Romance is sweet, but overall not my favorite book.
This book was a very pleasant surprise! I thought it would be a cheesy, small town romance but it was nothing like that. It was about Luke, coming to a town called Home to make repairs on the church, only to find out that his dad was in cahoots with the pastor to get Luke to be a minister there. I really enjoyed the quirky characters, from the color-blind painter to crotchety church secretary Mrs. Fields. I loved reading about Barty and how Luke took him everywhere with him. There was great humor in the book. And the congregation of the church...all churches need to have a congregation like that who looks out for one another and that has a close-knit quality to them. Great themes on love, forgiveness, and moving on.
