This book has three time-lines: 2010, 1939 and 3500 B. C. In these three stories, the dark stone is present.
Let's start from the older story. The 3500 B. C. part was the only one I liked. The characters intrigued me and the plot had potential. Sadly, as I read more of that story, it just dragged and the characters lost my interest. It was the only part of the book that was making it enjoyable and, by the end, it was just bad.
The story from 1939 was short and there wasn't a lot going on. I didn't care for the characters and the plot was dull.
The last story was from 2010 and it was the main story of the book. The main character, Jake, was irrational and annoying. In the beginning, it didn't bother me but, as I kept reading, he kept making stupid decisions and his part of the story became boring. It didn't go anywhere.
As I read the book, I was always waiting for something exciting to happen. It didn't. The book just kept going on and on, without any interesting happening.
It ended on a cliffhanger but I didn't care.
I won't be continuing with the series.
