Oh I like this book.. The story is lovely and simple. I like that the story is charming enough to capture my attention.
Cottonbloom is divided into two different cities by Louisiana and Mississippi and social status as well. Mississippi side was look down upon and called swamp rats. That's where Cade Fournette is from. He lost his parents and he was trying to keep his family together and he would do anything to keep his family fed. When he was at his boat, he sees frighten girl in pajama seeking for help. He wanted to help her and encourage her to tell him the story.
Monroe was living in better part of Cottonbloom however, nothing looked happy in her life. Ever since her father divorced her mother, she started drinking and nothing is the same. From outside, they seem okay but Monroe feels she is the one taking care of her mom and herself. When one of her boyfriend gets close to her and ready to attack her, she runs out and ends up in someone's boat. That's where she met Cade.
Cade look after Monroe over the years until he vanished from Cottonbloom. Monroe waited for him during full moon under their tree but one time he didn't show up and never after that.
Now close to 10 years passed, he is back in Cottonbloom in her PT office. It brings lots of memories and feelings back for both. They still have feelings for each other but Cade doesn't want to settle down in Cottonbloom. This will be short trip but will it be just a short trip? Will they get their second chance?
It was sweet story of Monroe and Cade. They helped each other to become stronger and independent. I can't wait to read dig into next book.

Monroe grew up on the Mississippi side of Cottonbloom. Her family was rich but her mother was an alcoholic and with different men. One of those men came into Monroe’s room one night and she left out the window. Cade was the oldest of his brother and sister and their provider after his parents were killed in a car accident. He was from the Louisiana side of Cottonbloom, the poor side. He did everything to keep his family together and one night he finds a frightened girl in his boat. For years after that they meet once a month under a tree to talk.
Now years later Monroe is a physical therapist in Cottonbloom and her new patient is Cade. Cade is successful man and was hurt climbing a rock wall. He’s only back home for a little while until he heals up then he’s going back to Seattle. Monroe has grown up and Cade is attracted to her but knows he can’t stay there. They both know each other’s secrets so being together is easy. When it’s time to go back to Seattle he asks Monroe to go with him. Will she leave everything and everyone she loves to be with Cade or will she lose the only man she has ever trusted or loved?
Romantic, sexy, funny, and heartbreakingly sad at times. Second chances and two people who have to put the past behind to move forward.

Cade Fournette was born and raised on the Louisiana side of Cottonbloom, where life has not been easy for him and his siblings. When his parents died in an accident, Cade was left to raise his younger siblings, while having everyone expecting him to fail. He does find success once he leaves Cottonbloom behind but left behind his family and maybe his heart. Cade return home and realizes just what his departure had meant.
Monroe Kirby, a physical therapist, also volunteers her time to help girls learn self defense. Many years ago Monroe could have used this training and wants to make sure other girls have it. Cade had come to her rescue and became somewhat of a protector. When he left Cottonbloom without saying goodbye she thought she would never see him again.
Cade has turned to Monroe for her therapy and soon the two discover that the feelings they had all those years ago may have never extinguished.
I found that the first book was great in setting up the town and characters. I gave this book a three because I felt like while it was a good read there wasn't anything exceptional or unique to set it apart. The story between Cade and Monroe has been done before and while I liked them, I found the chemistry was just so-so. The secondary characters also seemed to have more characterization than the hero and heroine. I am looking forward to he next book which I hope is Nash and Tally's story.
