Under The Surface is the fourth book in the Alpha Ops series by Anne Calhoun. The Alpha Ops series is an adult romantic suspense series. Each of the books can be read as standalones. They work really well as standalone novels, and I feel confident in saying so because though this is the fourth book in series, it is the first book that I have read, and I had no issue following the story. Under the Surface was a really enjoyable read. I liked this one and I look forward to checking out more novels by author Anne Calhoun.

In Under the Surface, we meet our main characters Eve and Matt. Matt is an undercover cop assigned to a case involving Eve and her bar, Eye Candy. I really liked Eve, but it was Matt who stole my heart- and totally got it racing! The romance in this book was sizzling hot, and man oh man did I love it! Eve and Matt have chemistry that leapt off the page! I love a good undercover cop story because it normally means protective alphas and some degree of danger. And Anne Calhoun did not disappoint in either department.

This book had everything I was looking for- fantastic romance, great characters, sexy flirting, and plenty of fun times, mixed in with some danger and excitement. If you are a fan of romantic suspense books, then Under the Surface is a book you need to check out. I loved the characters, the writing and most of all- the romance! I need to read the other books in the Alpha Ops series ASAP!

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

I wanted to like this one more than I did. I'm not sure what didn't quite click for me, but it felt like I was dropped into the middle of the whole Lyle storyline and was scrambling to keep up. The premise was great, but I needed more about both Eve and Matt's histories so that I could root for them.

Overall, this brings romance and suspense together with the strong talent of Anne Calhoun.

DNF.....this book wasn't for me. I won't be formally reviewing or rating this book. It has nothing to do with the author or writing, I just couldn't connect with the story.

This is a good and spicy story. It started out a little slow but picked up. Eve is a strong, sexy and confident owner of the club Eye Candy. Unknown to her, the sexy new bartender she hires is really an undercover cop with a different name than he gives her. She finds herself in danger but doesn't know who to turn to. Once Matt feels that she is innocent in shady dealings, he tries to help her, but finds it hard to resist her while keeping his identity secret. I loved the chemistry between them and the second half of the story had a better pace.

After reading the blurb I was pulled in but I lost interest in this very fast. The plot was over done and sounded like so many other books currently out.
