This book goes in-depth into crime analysis. I recommend it to those who like books with vigilante justice.
The first book in a new series by Lisa Black (as of 2021 there are now 6) it follows the lives of Maggie Gardiner and Jack Renner. One is a detective and one is a killer. It's very good with the forensic details, but didn't keep my interest.
CSI meets Dexter in this thriller about a forensic scientist and police officer who happens to be a vigilante killer work to discover the identity of a murder victim. But the uncover so much more. A solid pick for fans of the television shows CSI and Dexter.
I haven't read anything by Black for a while. This one felt like a cross between Bones and Dexter, but without the depth that either gives to the story. I didn't feel connected to either of the main characters, but definitely more to Jack than Maggie. I didn't really like her at all, I found her single mindedness too grating. I just wanted more suspense, more grit, more...something, maybe just more. I might or might not pick up the second in this series.
Good read. Edge of your seat reading. Great characters and good story flow. Hard to put down. Would recommend.

I enjoyed this first book in a new series by Black. I have thoroughly love her Theresa MacLean Series, and hope that this one will continue to be good!
Maggie, a forensic investigator is on the trail of a monster who brutalized and kills. She is a great character, and the storyline is filled with thrills and surprises.
I didn't care for it very much. Not very suspenseful or thrilling
