Sorry for the late review. I had done the Goodreads review but didn't realize I never posted it here. So sorry about that.
It has been forever since I read books #1 & 2, but after getting caught up on old reviews I realized I never finished this series and I wanted Riley's story. We get a bit of Riley's history in An Ounce of Hope when he's having a heart to heart with Max.
With A Measure of Love we get the full back story of why Riley behaved the way he did and how his heart was broken. The story is written from past memories and present time. This helps us feel the depth of their connection.
Now that Riley is back at home to visit his family he is also faced with his past and future. In the past memories I did like Lexie, but was not a fan of her secret nor her reason for the secret. It wasn't enough for me to fully forgive her. Riley has a bigger heart than me plus they had a long past that made it easier for him to mover forward.
I loved the banter with Riley and his brothers and I wish we would get a spin off series with the brothers as there we some unanswered parts during this story where the brothers were involved.
I liked Riley and I liked the part with Riley and Park as well as Riley and Noah, but I guess I hold grudges and I didn't end up liking Lexie as much. I felt the part where we find out her reasons for ending it with Riley originally was too quick and we didn't get to fully feel her pain to understand why she made the decisions she did
I love this book.
Riley is a character that you fall in love with from the start. He is just a likable character. You feel all his pain and all he has been through.
The author yet again has written a fantastic book. The story is about a second chance at love, its full of passion, there's sweet and hot moments thrown in.
This story just shows you that life doesn't always happen the way you want it to but it's worth it in the end.
