3.5 Stars
Well, I'm sure I will be in the minority with this one, however the book didn't sit well with me from the start. While the plot seemed predictable, it also took forever to get to the "good stuff" and then it was over. Or to be continued.
While the rundown of characters and getting to know each side, the dark and the light was interesting, it droned on to the verge of boring. I realized this was a slightly religious book from the blurb, however hoped it would turn into something else. And it did, much, much later.
There was no real connection to either Sara or Stella, which also made reading the book a little difficult as it left me feeling uninterested. I'l give it to Aleatha Romig for coming up with such a crazy plot line, however it unfolded a little slowly for my taste.
The book is well written from various points of view, as well as flashing back to explain the situation thoroughly. While everything went down as I expected it to, it sounds like the next book will be getting in to the "good stuff" at bit more.

This author definitely brings you for a ride on all of her books. I could not put this one down. Thanks Netgalley for the Arc
Into the Light is a story about a "cult" where the leader is abducting women off the streets and drugging them so they have no memory of life before the abductions.
I am not to fond of stories where there is a cult like setting. It took me quite a while to get this book finished but when I got to the end I was intrigued because of the cliffhanger Ms. Romig ended on.
Thankfully I had the second book, Away From the Dark, which I am reading now and don't want to put down.
If you want to read a great series pick this book up......You will not be sorry.
Wonderful thriller with a unique and timely premise. Thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC
This is my first introduction to Aleatha Romig, and I am thrilled to have met her. I was hooked from the first page. The story kept twisting and turning until the end. A real page turner!
I read this via a digital copy through Netgalley.
Twists and turns abound in Into the Light. Nothing is what it seems to be, and just when you think you've got everything figured out, the author pulls the rug right out from under you.
In this case, the story ends on a bit too much of a cliffhanger for me, especially since the second in the duet has yet to come out. I'd love to read it when it does, but right now the lack impacts my perspective on this book.
I'm not a cliffhanger fan, so I wasn't thrilled with how this story went. I felt like it was less of a first in a series, and more of a prologue. Which isn't necessarily bad, but isn't what I was looking for because then you have to wait to see the story continue unfolding. I love that the protagonist is a strong woman, and that made this book stand out for me.
What do you do when you wake up blind and can't remember your life . That's what happens to Sarah Adams . She loves the darkness cause she is scared of what will happen if her sight came back . Then there is Stella Montgomery . she is after a story that will take her right up against the cult The light. The more each of them dig into the LIGHT the more questions come to light and everything comes with a price .
I must say that the author never disappoints and she hasn't disappointed me with this one . Her characters are so well written and complex , you can't help but fall for them . You want to cheer them on and make sure they stay safe The book actually has three points of view Sara , Stella and Jacob . Sara is at first a very frightened and confused . She has woken up and is blind but she is trying to be strong . As you read you see Sara come into her own and become stronger and stronger . Now Stella is strong and man she is such a go getter . She is willing to sacrifice herself for a story . I want to be her when I grow up . She is a great strong woman . I must say I like that Jacob is part of the story also. He is just creepy and eerie . He is such a strong person and he isn't really that nice . But as you start to get into Jacobs mind we see that he isn't all that he puts out there. We actually feel the love he has for Sara I am so grateful for that point of view because there were a couple of times I really wanted to hit him with the frying pan repeatedly.
The author really knows how to take us on an adventure . The story is intriguing and the characters are very well written . The mystery of Sara's accident is plausible and the cult story is actually relevant . I couldn't put this book down I was hooked from page one . The mystery had me hooked and reading well into the night . There is a cliff hanger at the end of this book but book two is out so you can jump in right away to finish off their story. So if you want a book that will keep you reading and guessing check out this series . You will not be disappointed .
This book was not at all what I had expected! I didn't realize it until now, but I never even read the synopsis before starting the book. It was a great surprise to find out that it revolved around a cult since I find that topic so interesting and I've only read one other book about that. My review will be spoiler-free.
Sara is a young woman who has suddenly awoken injured and surrounded by people she doesn't recognize. They speak to each other using terminology that doesn't quite make sense to her. No one is forthcoming and she finds that she doesn't understand this world at all.
Stella is investigating the murders of young women who seem to vanish without a trace only to resurface later with horrific injuries. When her own friend goes missing, it becomes a much more personal matter for her and despite the warnings of her boyfriend she begins delving deeper into this world filled of intrigue and danger.
Into the Light was captivating while at the same time very frustrating for me. I couldn't stand the way the heroine was being treated. Obviously, this was written brilliantly to evoke such emotions for me. I may have simultaneously been making a hit list in my head of characters that I hated with every fiber of my being.
I was able to spot a huge plot twist very early on, but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of this book. I should note that this wasn't an obvious plot twist, but I read a lot of mystery and romantic suspense novels. I don't think most people will see this plot twist coming.
This is my first Aleatha novel, but certainly not my last! I look forward to checking out more of her books which I, thankfully, own several of them due to my one-click obsession lol.
I’m not 100% certain what I was expecting when I started this book. I knew that the writing was going to be fabulous because every other book I’ve read by this author has been stellar. I also knew that there was going to be some crazy stuff in it. Like stuff that messes with your mind, and boy did she deliver. I am honestly still not positive on how I feel about this book because it really threw me for a loop mentally. The character development is freaking amazing and the story line is fantastic, though there are multiple story lines, as the book is in three different viewpoints. The book does end in a Cliffhanger so beware for that. Over all a solid story and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book and hopefully it helps me see things more clearly.
When an author writes a phenomenal series such as Consequences, you have to wonder what the next one will be like. She did not disappoint. Into the Light, even though it ended in a cliffhanger because book 2 is coming out soon, was just as good, if not better. The realistic characters and the grittiness of the storyline kept me reading well into the night. I can't wait for book 2.
This is not like Aleatha's other books. It kept me on my toes the entire time! I love Aleatha's books and this one was soooo good!
Aleatha is one of my favorite authors in the world!
Her books are always intense, extremelly well written, flawless, with complex characters and amazing stories.
It´s hard to give only 5 starst to this book. Into the Light is different from her previous books but just like the others it blew my mind. This is only the beginning of a new favorite series.
10 amazing stars!!!!
I was not sure about this one but I was dedicated to reading it because I knew I liked all of the other work of Aleatha's. And sure enough, it paid off. The beginning is pretty slow and you are confused a lot as the reader. As is Sara. However, the more you read, the more you kind of understand what is going on. The book goes back and forth between Sara and Stella, mostly. There is some Jacob, Bernard, and I believe Dylan thrown in there as well. But mostly, from the perspectives of Sara and Stella. And what you may think, is two different story lines that are happening at the same time - you realize at the end - it's not. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but complete surprise at the end! At least, it was for me. In my mind, I thought Sara might have been Mindy. And, by the end of this book, you'll dislike Dylan A LOT and love Jacob. Which I didn't think would happen since I figured out what Jacob did and what he is involved in...but you still fall in love with him. The concept is something I've never read about before so it was very interesting and appalling at the same time. I can't believe woman willingly gives all control over to men. Maybe it is my feminist side coming out, but I found that theme quite disturbing.
I gave this four stars due to the fact that it was very slow and confusing in the beginning but once you figure out what is going on, you really enjoy the story.
I received this as an ebook from Netgalley for free in exchange for my honest opinion.
The Light is supposed to banish the darkness, but what if the darkness is mere fog , enveloping and hiding the truth from the Light !!!
The book grabs you in the first chapter itself. The story is very current. I remember reading about certain women vanishing without a trace and were years later found to be part of a sect.
the intricacies, the twists and turns and a major WTF moment is typical Aleatha. Her research is very thorough and her story telling very descriptive.
Cannot wait for book 2 !
I give it 4.5 stars
I received this in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. Thank you to the author, Aleatha Romig, and the publisher, Thomas & Mercer, for this opportunity.
This three-person-perspective narrative juggled thrills, romance, crime, and suspense in a seamless and exciting blend. Sara Adams awakens after a mysterious accident, unable to remember her former life. Her husband, Jacob Adams is helping to reconcile her with her role in the religious sect they belong to, labelled The Light. Stella Montgomery is investigating the mysterious disappearances of young girls in the Detroit area. How are all three connected?
The particulars concerning the cult were unnerving to read about. The indoctrinated individuals made for frustrating (in the good sense) reading, as the reader was privileged with more information than many of the characters. But that is where Romig has us deceived!
This balanced a healthy amount of suspense inside a plot full of unguessable twists, which made for utterly compelling reading. And it culminated into one of the most finely executed and shocking conclusions I have ever read! Romig had me fooled, and I can't wait to read the next instalment of this duology to discern what other surprises this has to deliver.
It is difficult to write a review without spoiling it for readers.
Needless to say it is a must read with loads of twists and turns
The ending is epic and leaves you speechless.....
I could not put it down Just when you think you have it all figured it you don't!.
Now I need to read book 2.
Thank you Netgalley and the Author for an ARC for an honest review.
