I did not expect to like this book; far removed from the elements of Berlin that I lived in (from a geographic and societal point of view) but it resonated all the same. I was pulled into Metro's world but it took a few dozen pages, and once you've come to acknowledge, if not appreciate, the seemingly graffiti-anarchic motivations of her crowd (did someone watch 'V for Vendetta' too many times?), it's easy to gallop along side them. Throw all of this and a Banksy theft, and you've got the ingredients for a hell of a ride.
I am grateful to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a free advance reading copy of this book. This in no way influenced my review or rating.
