I have read a few books by this author. They aren't groundbreaking but they are entertaining. I like the setting, if I don't really connect with the characters.
I read this book while at the beach. It is a great beach read!!! Nantucket, family, summer, love...the perfect combination for a good beach read! Highly recommend.
I love Nancy Thayer and this book was not a disappointment. Courtney goes to Nantucket every summer and this summer she has to decide what type of man, and life, her future holds. All while at the beach!
A perfect read for the summer, I really enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to a friend. I think those who enjoy Elin Hilderbrand's and Nora Robert's books will like this one as well.
Good read. Interesting and intriguing characters. Great story flow. Very entertaining! Would recommend!
Courtney Hendricks is once again going to Nantucket to visit the Vickereys for the summer. She’s thankful for the warm welcome she has always received from her best friend’s mother and the fact that she really does feel like one of Susanna’s “summer” children. This time though Courtney is at a crossroads in her life and is not sure if this may be the last summer she spends with Robin and her family.
For Robin Vickerey having her best friend means the summer will be filled with lots of visits to the beach, talking until all hours of the night and sharing memories but she is also busy helping her mother plan a big birthday bash and just helping with running the house as her brothers and sister and all of their friends can cause quite a commotion. Robin is also hiding a secret from her family and her best friend but will this be the summer she can finally share her happiness?
The Vickereys are a lively family and each character seemingly larger than life. Amidst all the laughter there are also difficult moments that each character is dealing with but with the help of friends and family they will learn that they can get through the rough patches.
If you are looking for a quick, easy beach read this might be the one for you. There is a lot of romance and drama but things tend to get resolved quickly and easily. Still I couldn’t help but wish I was on the island enjoying the breezes and splashing in the waves. Sounds like a lovely place to be.

Great beach read with wonderful characters, an engaging storyline, and a picturesque setting! Loved it!
This is one of the first books I've read of Nancy Thayer...and I may be nervous to try another one. I was not a fan of this book even though I finished it. There was no character developmental between the characters. There was no chemistry between anyone because most of the time, there were flashbacks but not enough detail. The dialogue between characters was really forced and weird as no one talks like that in real life. I became very exasperated between Courtney and James and their ever ending argument about kids. Robin's secret? So lame. I even skimmed past the section where she tells Quinn her "secret". This book sounded so good but did not live up to its potential. I felt like there was more chemistry between Courtney and Monty than James. At one point, I felt like I was gunning for Monty to win. It was very repetitive and the writing was not the best.
I received this book for free from Netgalley for a honest review.
Thank you to Net Galley and Random House/Ballantine for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Not one of my favorite of Nancy Thayer's books, but overall an good summer read (even though we're well past the summer at this point).
This book tells the story of Courtney, who grew up in the Midwest, but since her college days has summered in Nantucket with her roommate's (Robin) family. As she goes back to Nantucket for the summer to celebrate the 60th birthday of Robin's mother, Courtney is facing some life decisions. Should she go after the one man she has loved for years or choose her childhood best friend, who has recently confessed his feelings to her. While she is trying to figure out what she really wants, Robin and her siblings all face decisions of their own.
I thought that the book focused on the stories of too many characters and the book suffered because of it. The book felt like it was stuffed full of a lot of drama and could have dealt with a little bit of editing down, especially on the number of characters. There were a lot of good elements to the book, but having so many characters to focus on made it hard to fully develop all the storylines.
