Maddy is a real estate agent for high-end properties in Manhattan. She is well paid, but she left her hometown of Old Brookfield to escape the tragedy of the death of her boyfriend Rick. They had been together for 10 years and she is determined not to put herself in a position of losing someone so close to her again. She counted on the anonymity of living and working in the biggest of big cities to protect her heart. And it worked, until she met NYPD K-9 cop Ronan, who by coincidence is from her same hometown.

Ronan’s partner dog is Bowser, and they are experts at finding lost people, a talent that comes in handy more than one time in this thrilling story. It doesn’t take long for Ronan to fall in love with Maddy and just a little longer for her to let her guard down enough to begin to love Ronan.

So far, it’s a sweet love story, right? That is until a crazed stalker begins murdering female real estate agents. Maddy and Ronan head home for Christmas with his family and Ronan begins to relax about Maddy’s safety. All good things must come to an end, and when they do, the disaster is just waiting in the wings to strike terror in their hearts and put Maddy in peril. The ending will knock your socks off and make you read as fast as you can to see how things turn out.

I loved Maddy and Ronan, and the secondary characters, including the main couple from the first book in the series, are strong individuals in this story. Bowser, the bloodhound who is the real hero of the book, is one of my favorite characters. I really enjoy stories about strong women, and there are plenty of them in this book. While this book can be read as a stand-alone story, you will enjoy it even more if you read the first book. There are references to events, places and people from the first book in the series that will make you really want to read it. This is a true romance with all the elements that make a good love story. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys romances and Christmas season stories.

This was a super fun, easy read and I totally enjoyed it. It's pretty fast paced with likable characters. It was really entertaining and sweet and had a nice element of suspense mixed in. Really great read!

I liked Maddy and Ronan a lot. I liked their connection and flirting. Maddy was struggling with moving forward in her life after a major loss and I loved Ronan's persistence of trying to get her out of her shell. It made for some playful, flirty moments and a few emotional ones too. I found it to have a slow burn but I really liked their building relationship. I liked Ronan's dog Bowser as well. That was a cute element since they're partners in the K9 unit.

There's a nice element of intrigue mixed in but it's just a small part. It definitely made for an action packed ending! The story is definitely about Maddy and Ronan coming together, I was caught up in their romance. There is a bit of mild drama as well but nothing to taxing, just enough to keep you on your toes.

The writing is really good and the progression was great throughout. Not super in depth but enough details to keep me interested and keep everything moving along nicely. It was a pretty easy read and a bit predictable sometimes but I found it really entertaining and enjoyable. I chuckled my way through a lot of scenes and got a bit teary eyed during some of the more emotional parts.

All in all this was a great read full of heart! Maddy and Ronan were awesome!

I tried reading this book but I couldn't get into it. I had a death in the family earlier this month and my head is not in the right place to finish reading this book. I enjoy Sara Humphreys books and I'm so sorry that I can't finish and review the book. I'm dealing with family and personal issues and my head and heart are not in it. I hope to try reading the book again in a few months when my head is in a better place.
