The premise is that the Gods have noticed Demigods disappearing off cruise ships, so three-year old Aphrodite volunteers to investigate. Even though she's very young, she's got a lot of baggage thanks to Zeus, whom she and the other Gods supposedly killed in a previous book. She's also got man troubles which began before this installment, which, stupid, why haven't you read already?! Yeah, it kinda reads like that. Many things are explained but only from Aphrodite's POV.

The story is lightweight but tries to be heavier, tries to be romantic without actually having any romance or even mildly graphic sex, and eventually "ends" in the middle of the climax.

Seriously. I kept looking, trying to see if I'd accidentally skipped a few pages, but no, it ends in the middle of a "dramatic" escape.

What gives?? I know the author/publishers etc want to keep the reader hanging, but must it be literal? This feels like several pages, if not a chapter or two, were left out.

An unsatisfying ending can ruin the best of stories, and this wasn't all that to begin with. I'm very disappoi-

A continuation of the YA series Daughters of Zeus (Book 4) and the first one in which Aphrodite is the MC. A new mystery and many of the wonderful characters from the previous novels, although not enough of Hades. Alas, we finally get to see more of Ares, which kind of makes up for it. A good contemporary interpretation of the love goddess and the god of war. The reader also meets some new mythological characters that are interesting. I look forward to the next one! For fans of YA adaptations.
