I was so pleasantly surprised by this second chance romance that I read it in almost one sitting.
Somewhat predictable- but who doesn’t like that in a romance- the story or Will and Julia kept me turning the pages to see how their story ended.
I’ll be looking into some of this authors other books.
A fabulous debut novel. I’ll certainly be looking out for future publications from this author. I laughed, cried and fell in love throughout this story. It has likeable characters and some that you can’t help but hate from the off. If you believe in soulmates and fate this book is a must read.
When you find a book that is so well written that when the characters feel heartbreak you feel it too, that's when you know you have a winning story, and a fantastic author. This book makes you feel all of the emotions. Definitely recommend this!
I realize this was an advance copy, but the writing was so bad. The author moves between past and present tense continually - not as a narrative technique but within the same paragraph. Through the entire book I had to keep correcting it in my head. Second, while the general story was interesting, the hero was so, so incredibly spineless that he just ceased to be attractive. Star-crossed be damned, she deserved a better partner.
I can't help myself when it comes to contemporary chicklit so this book was right up my alley. I went into this with an open mind considering it was described as the authors debut novel and on the whole I enjoyed the story and found myself compelled to keep reading. The main characters Will and Julia were likeable but their road to happiness was not an easy one. There was no doubt they loved each other but they were their own worst enemies. Each of them had issues that managed to keep them apart. Julia with trust issues that stemmed from her parents divorce and Will with a past that haunted him and a conscience he couldn't escape. At times I became so frustrated with both Will and Julia I wanted to give them a good shake however I'm glad I didn't give up on them. The passing of time and some significant life events finally worked in their favour.
This genre is not for everybody and this story may not be either but I'm not sorry to have spent my day engaged with these characters.
I received a free ecopy from the publisher, Plain Jayne Ink, via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was just a beautiful book, and I highly recommend it. It is a long novel with a lot packed in between the pages, however I couldn't put this down. This book outlines the dichotomy when individuals from different social standing, life, and how two characters who are so different can be so right for each other. This was not a predictable book by any means, and the author has a way with words that really makes the time fly as you read. This book first caught my eye with the title and cover art, and I am happy I was able to read this.
There is a wide range of emotion that this book brings out for the reader. The pages are filled with love, laughter, hope, and heartache packed within the words used. The author has a way with words that keeps the reader engaged emotionally and intellectually, and the characters are ones you grown to know and love, despite their flaws.
This book is full of realistic situations and characters that really resonate with real life experiences, and I can't recommend it enough. Reading this book brought out all the feels, and it was sad when the book ended. I was impressed with this new to me author, and I can't wait to see what other books she has on the horizon.
