Started slow and never really picked up for me.

I'm going over my backlog that I forgot to post on netgalley, sorry for the late posts.

Didn’t live up to the blurb and I felt no suspense at all. The characters didn’t appeal to me and it seemed too unlikely to come across as I story I could be bothered investing in.

As a parent, I found myself really questioning the choices that were made by the characters. Definitely makes you think of how far you would go for the ones you love! Didn't have me reaching for it at the end of a long day, but did hold my attention.

**3.5 STARS**

This book started off slow but the mystery finally did ebb in there. It was a lot of characters to get the feel of but all of the story lines were weaved well together. I enjoyed the plot and the way the story turned. I felt bad for Alex, having been a teenager girl at one point. I can remember a time when I didn't want to be around my parents and such (thank god we grow out of that) - but to have witnessed your best friend die and to think you are responsible. That is a lot for a 16 year old to carry around.

The relationship between Meg and Jacob was strained from the get go. It was interesting to see their backstory and figure out where they were headed. Also, the book displays well on what happens to a family going through a divorce. It affects everyone.

Some of the stories & lies seem irrelevant at the time but it showed all of those stories & lies added up to this one decision that changed everyone's life. All of these conversations, reactions, etc added up to Meg sending Alex away to New Hampshire which starts a whole new journey and crisis for her. In a way, it showed the reader how one decision can affect the rest of your life.

Good read.
