Amerikan Krazy is a wild, Forrest Gump-esque ramble through 50s to 80s surreal America. Several things are the same, like the JFK assassination, which becomes and obsession for Hubert Horn, and the Vietnam War, where he's badly yet unspecifically injured. What's different is the Disney riff that combines the animation/theme park conglomerate (now theme park HQ'd in San Diego) with more industrial/political ties to the oligarchy, like the Kennedys and another wannabe dynasty family. Crazed by this and many drugs, Horn and his Vietnam buddies think to assassinate the candidate and/or patriarch, only to be stopped by his high school crush.
This is a mostly fun, but crazy polemical romp through a not-so-exaggerated version of our shallow, consumerist, used, deceived culture.

I had a difficult time following the story in this book and had to reshelve it. Hopefully I will have better luck another time
