A Taste of Seduction is a historical romance novel starts off with a misunderstanding that leaves two heart-torn loves in the cold. After a few years, they are rejoined and sparks flare along with tempers, but, that doesn't stop what is meant to be.
I enjoyed reading Evangeline and Hadley's story. I like how this was a second chance novel the promotes the idea of a second chance to love again. There's plenty of suspense, adventure, and excitement in this book that kept my fingers turning the page. Bronwen Evans has easily become one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more from this author. I recommend this book to all historical romance fans out there.
A Taste of Seduction is book 5 in the Disgraced Lords series by Bronwen Evans. I would suggest reading the books in order due to the underlying plot of a villainess against the Libertine Scholars.
Hadley and Evangeline were young and in love. They had planned to elope when Hadley received a letter saying that she was going to marry someone with a title and money. As the second son of a Duke, Hadley had always worried that would happen so he just accepted it and hated from Evangeline from that point on. Now five years have passed and Evangeline is back. She is now a widow with a young son and seeks Hadley out to confront him about why he didn't come after her. When the truth comes out, Hadley is riddled with guilt but it seems that the Libertine Scholars have been the target of their villainess for longer than any of them realized. Will they be able to stop her? Will Hadley and Evangeline get their HEA?
I really enjoyed this book and I am disappointed that I waited so long to read it. I love how I can just get swept up into this world that Ms. Evans has created and I want to know everything that happens. I like Hadley and the way he always tries to protect everyone but at the same time I am concerned that is going to get him hurt. I liked Evangeline but she isn't my favorite heroine from this series. I felt that she should have been more angry about what happened to her than she seemed to be.
The Disgraced Lords is a series that I would recommend to any historical romance lover. I can't wait to read the next book!
As usual Ms. Evans has crafted a well written story with characters that catch your attention and keep you engaged. The second chance taken by Lord Hadley and Lady Evangeline is well deserved and plays out to satisfaction for the reader. The story includes the suspense of the Libertine Scholars as they seek out the evil stalking them. Another book too good to put down once started.
Great story. Loved the characters and the story line was well written. Characters had great chemistry.
This really was an ok read. Mostly I was sad that so much sadness and distress came out of perhaps being a little too in love and a little too young to understand each other well enough to know something is wrong.
My major regret though, is that her mother was never confronted. I really wish she had been, and though I understand Evangeline's need to put her mother and what happened behind her, I would argue that without confrontation you never really do.
In this 5th book,. I really felt like the author wasn't invested. I loved the other books int he series, I just felt no emotion, or at least not as much as I would have felt had my long lost love told me he abandoned me because of my letter (Which I didn't write) that told him I wanted a richer husband! And then the whole scenes over the man having kept the letter and then never showing it! No! This is not how this works!
The whole time I was expecting something more. Some catalyst as to why the characters were so lifeless. But nothing ever did. It was just "Meh."
I will try another of this authors books because every one has a bad day, or a bad book in this case. I really loved the other books.
