This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you
ReviewHis to Protect by Stacey Lynn is the story of Declan and Trina (Katrina). He is the a struggling Bar & Grill owner and she is an abused wife on the run from her husband. I love a strong male who is able to let a woman make her own choices without demanding and who is able to love and show that love to all. Declan is that man. He helps Trina in her lowest moment and proceeds to help her find her inner strength. Trina, while and abused woman, is not helpless and deals with her current situation with strength and determination. Also we meet Boomer her furry companion. Her story with her husband is unexpectedly resolved and we meet the cast of the next books in series. I really enjoyed this story and an sorry it took me so long to read. I look forward to reading the other books in this series as we were left with a cliff hanger to the next book. We also see characters from the first book, which I have yet to read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a copy of this book. All opinions are freely given and my own. Highly recommend. (less
Fireside Grill owner Declan wanted to find who has been making a mess near his trash bin. He never thought he would find a woman and a dog. She was digging through the trash to find her dog but she didn't seem like a homeless person. She had bruises on her faces and wincing in pain. For some reason he wanted to protect her and give her comfort.
When Trina left her home, she was planning to head to Canada and away from her abusive husband. She knew she didn't have enough time and she wasn't planning to stay in Latham hill. When she was scouring trashcans to feed her dog, she never thought she would actually face Declan. He was kind and offering his place for stranger like her.
Trina had to take Declan's offer when she was ransacked at her run down motel. She lost almost everything and no money to get another room. She wasn't sure his offer still stand. When Declan welcomed her and her dog to his house, she was glad even stranger was better than her husband.
Trina and Declan were attracted to each other but both were having trust issues of their own. Declan's ex-wife left him with doubts about love, woman and Trina's husband's abusive behavior cause her not to trust men. Now both are spending more time with each other, will they trust each other enough to give each other another chance at love.
It was great to read about Tyson, Blue and her girlfriends. I can't wait to read the next one on the series.
This could be stand alone. This deals with abusive relationship but not too heavy.
Thanks to net galley and Loveswept for ARC in exchange for honest review.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
I liked this one. Trina's on the run from an abusive ex and winds up at Declan's door, literally. Declan has always had a protective streak, and one look at Trina's fading bruises has his hackles up. She turns to him for help when things go bad and it isn't long before they create a connection that's much deeper than either of them had with their previous spouses.
What comes next is a sweet read where Trina finds a new home, both with Declan and with the people in his life. It had a little excitement (the ending felt a little out of left field compared to the rest of the book, which is why I took a star off), some heat, and enough heart to make me want to keep reading about this crew.
His to Protect is the second book in this series. I could not wait to read Declan and Trina’s story. I liked that the characters from the first book reappear in the second yet if you didn’t read the first you can still enjoy every word of the second.
The second book is a more common story, I felt like I had read in before in a book by a different author. Stacey Lynn took this storyline and added her twists, turns, and love into the story and made in 100 times better than any others I had read. The two points of view really added to the story. I liked that I could read Declan’s side and then read Trina’s take on the same happenings. This dual POV added so much to the story.
I enjoyed how respective Declan is of Trina. He could push it with her and she would have probably let him but he lets her take the lead. I felt like this made Trina show her strength and help her learn to say what she wants and stand on her own. I also enjoyed how Trina let Declan take the lead when he needed to so that she could stay safe or just enjoy what was going on. This made Declan a manly man and not just a pushover for a beautiful woman.
Stacy Lynn is a great author and this is a great series. Check it out.
His to Protect caught me by surprise. I had no idea of the power within these pages. Watching two heart collide so precariously and yet so perfectly is what left me breathless and amazed. Love can take us completely by surprise, and this story is one of those delicious times. Nothing could have torn me away from these fantastic pages. The beauty and purity I found within each wonderful word that flowed through my mind left me in a state of euphoria that I never wanted to leave. I wanted to claim this place, these characters, and this world as my own. What a fantastic journey that left me deliriously happy and wanting so much more!
Declan is a good man who is trying to move forward with a broken heart and a broken spirit. He is trying to put himself back together well enough to make himself a life again. Trina is tired of holding her world together. She just wants to start over and find herself in the world around her. When these two meet in a whirlwind of assumptions and emotions that fuse them together in a way that neither understands. All they know if they are looking for something comforting and familiar and something that will help them to breathe again.
I was pushed off balance by the amazing push and pull that happens between Declan and Trina. They are completely opposites and yet they can’t help the pull between them for home and for so much more than they have settled for. I watched in wonder as these two wrapped each other around their heart and formed a bond as strong as steel. I loved every second of being consumed by these fantastic characters. They opened my heart to a lot, and I hope that I remember each motivating message.
Stacey Lynn knows how to create a pulse pounding and heart twisting story that will make you an addict until the very last word. Nothing is as sweet as a story that crawls under your skin and seeps into your very bones. I couldn’t get enough of these wonderful characters, and I hated to say goodbye. What an incredible series that you don’t want to miss out on!
I liked this story and plan to read more in the series and more from this author. The story kept me entertained and the characters we interesting.
This is one of my favorite types of stories. I love to read about a woman truly finding her strength and a man who can give her exactly what she needs. The community created in this novel was truly heartwarming, It's in the characters and the community that I always find my heart in a book, and I could totally see myself living here. An excellent read.
I loved the Fireside crew. Though they all had to deal with some sad and heavy things, and these books had me crying on the train I loved every second of it. Each book dug more and more into my hear and I didn't want to put any of them down. Great Series.
I really enjoyed Declan and Trina's story. This is a beautiful second chance story for both of the main characters having chosen poorly in their first attempts at marriage. It ends on a cliffhanger for secondary characters, which leads right into Fireside #3.
I am sorry I never got a chance to read this. My phone would not download it. I apologize.
