Just could not get into this book. Tried a few times then just gave up.

I really like the concept of this series and the characters, for the most part. I did feel that I couldn't relate to them much and that there was just so much missing information. It did come off slow for me and it took a while to get into it. I will read some more of the series when they come out because I am anxious to see where things go with the relationships in the book. I am also not the type of girl that will quit a series or to not give one a chance. I just hope she expands on back stories a little more and we can see some great things to come!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a good buildup and really shocks you and makes you think. I definitely will be reading more from this author!

I would have to say that Sarah Hobart has a way with words. The opening page set the mood and pace of the story and it just ran from there.
Sam Turner is a wonderful breath of fresh air in the world of Cozy mystery. She isn’t a frustrated arm chair detective with a law enforcement beau, she is just a working single mom, trying to do her job and maybe get a little romance going on the side, albeit with a guy in law enforcement. I love the way the mystery unravels and how all the pieces tie together. This wasn’t so much a Whodunit, but rather more a well crafted mystery set against the history of the house and its owners.
Arlinder seems to be a classic small town with its requisite small town character and small town under-currents like the competition between two garrulous old men vying against each other in the town’s annual race, the rival listing agent with an ax to grind or the sweet homeless man who is more than he seems. In this town of strong personalities, there is certainly no shortage of suspects or dead ends to the investigation.
I do have some reservations about her relationship with Bernie, the emerging complications and past history make me not so quick to enjoy the budding romance. The book overall was an enjoyable single sitting read.

I couldn't really get into this book - it stopped & started & didn't 'flow'. and none of the characters appealed to me I felt most of the time was spent with Sam driving all over town. The basic idea was good but the execution fell flat for me.

I received this e-book from Random House to read and review Death at a Fixer-Upper by author Sarah T. Hobart. This is the first book I have read by this author. This a great murder mystery with some drama and romance. I like Sam she is one determined lady. Life has dealt her a rough hand at times, but she has a lot determination and pep. Nothing gets her down not even having to deal with her ex or a moody 13 yr old son. And you have to love the hint of romance with the police chief. Can't wait until the second one comes out to see what trouble will follow Sam and if anything more happens in the romance department and also to see if she can make it as a real estate agent. If you are looking for a light read with some romance and some comedy this book is for you,
