Wings was a very disappointing read for me. It seems that it would benefit from a bit more editing or a reworking of how the collection of stories is laid out. The first half was a semi-enjoyable read but felt like I was reading someone's personal diary. The details and stories felt too personal, like the author speculating how her son and his friend might be feeling. The second half of the book is what took me so long to get though. I felt like it was filled with way too many details, and weird details, with sprinkles of really great writing throughout. I don't feel like I needed to read about the daydream while she was driving across Washington and I didn't care to read so much about her spiritual feelings. This author has potential but I don't feel like this book is the best she can do. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Incredibly, painfully pretentious. Boring. I really have nothing more to add.
