this was a touching love story. I felt both of their pain as well as Allie's strength and Micah's struggles to overcome his shame. The book focused more on the love story that the sex. The sex was sizzling hot but I wouldn't classify it as hard core BDSM, more so a lite BDSM.
I was glad to read a sexy story with a dominant male who also had such a soft side with a strong woman who knew how to nurture but be strong as well. I'm looking forward very much to reading the other books in this series and highly recommend this one.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher/NetGalley for an honest review.t

So this one gets us started in the world of kink...a beginners' course if you will. When Micah brings Allie to his company to work, it's only a matter of time before the chemistry between them turns into more. But will she be able to handle the "darker" side of him? Will he even show it to her?
I could have used a little more about the 4 DC owners, because that's who, I'm assuming, the series will be about, but I appreciate the friendship between Allie and Liv. This book was a little more emotional than straight heat, but it had plenty of that too. Looking forward to what comes next.
The two main characters are Allie and Micah. He owns sex and she will end up working for him. Allie wants a relationship with Micah and fights for it, Micah wants one with her also but you get the feeling like he is not totally committed because he keeps a sub on the side. I thought that to be insurance if their relationship did not work out. The story goes back and forth between the two characters telling each story. There is also a set up for the next book so there will be a cliffhanger nothing huge though. Overall an okay book. I thought it was going to be more.
Micah is conflicted by his need for dominance. Haunted by his past, he doesn’t let anyone close enough to learn his truth again. Hard work and his pain have driven him to become a very shrewd businessman, amassing a fortune.
Allie is a strong, independent woman determined for people to see her and not the money she hides. Friendly, sweet and warm, Micah is instantly drawn to her. He needs her but tries to hide his true dominance from her. She wants to know all of him.
When they uncover each other’s truths, they each find what they need. Love and acceptance of every part of themselves.
Real estate mogul Micah Holt is taking over another real estate firm where Allie works. He felt the strong pull since they met. She knows how to speak her mind when he was asking questions. He knew right away she was royal and trustworthy. Now he has to find a way to get over his lust if she is willing.
Allie is willing to work hard and ready to put in more time if needed but she swore she will not date anyone until right person comes along. When she meets Micah, new boss, she can't forget the attraction to him except she knows his reputation in San Francisco. She is well aware of his reputation being playboy and attracts paparazzi and that is not a life she wants. She likes her anonymity and off social radar.
Both are hiding their own secrets even though they feel the strong pull to each other.
Micah gets what he wants and now he wants Allie but she doesn't give in easy and she is willing to fight him as much as she can. When Allie sees different side of Micah when he was hosting Holt Day, she decided to give in to one date.. And that lead to more hot nights and it won't be just one night..
However, when Allie finds out Micah's Dirty Little Secrets, everything is falling apart and she can't forgive and her brother is tangled into the mix of all the secrets. Now they have to figure out if they are willing to reveal each other's secret and continue their relationship???
It was full of angst and steam..... Both are strong minded and has dark past tormenting their lives. .. I can't wait to read about next one about Allie's brother. There are glimpse of all the DC (dominance council) members.

Okay so I received this book a while back and just recently decided to read and review as I commited to. This is my first book by this author and really liked the pacing and length of book. I have issues with this lust at first sight business as you don't even know the other persons issues, relationship status or anything.....(to be continued) ------ So I just finished reading the book and I must say I enjoyed it a lot. The only thing that bothers me is that the BDSM / Erotica elements does not figure into book until about 90%, so for me it wasn't a big deal or really part of the story. I would definitely like to read about Darius and Taylor that seems like an interesting story. For this book I liked Micah and Allie together as they balance each other out in a good way. If they story was a little longer we might have been able to see more of their background. Good job by the author. Sorry it took me so long to read as I quite enjoyed it very much.
Floved this! It had intense passion and heat, and deep emotion, and I loved it all! Micah and Allie have a combustible connection! The sex scenes have some kink, and Micah has particular tastes sexually. I enjoy some kink, so this was great! I don't like some BDSM because I'm not a fan of books that take place in BDSM clubs, but I still want the kink! And this book fills that need for me. Allie is strong and smart, and I really enjoyed her character! Micah is mercurial and sweet, and I just loved how he acts towards Allie! Once they meet, they both try to deny the pull between them, but the pull won't be denied. Micah is dealing with some inner demons that could destroy the connection Allie and him have before they even really get going. I loved how vulnerable Micah is with Allie. Stacey Kennedy's writing is wonderful, and I'm really looking forward to reading about Allie's brother! That's going to be amazing! I love second chance love stories!
Honestly I was a little conflicted while reading this book. I got hooked into the blurb and thought it sounded pretty amazing. The first half of the story was mostly where I had issues and honestly didnt know if I was going to be able to finish.
There were things that I really did enjoy about the book though.
I love stories told in dual POV as this one was. I really appreciate getting both characters voices. I realize this is a lot of work for an author and I appreciate it as a reader.
Micah's character I enjoyed. I thought he was well written and for the most part, rather well developed. Allie I didnt like as well. I thought of the two, she was the weaker character. But she did have some good points about her as well.
The one thing that I do think could have been improved on *no spoilers* but there seems to be an issue that was left unresolved with a third party. It nagged me throughout a good portion of the story. Maybe the author did that intentionally to add some mystique or maybe there is going to be a sequel, i do not know but it left a hole for me.
I really feel like Stacey Kennedy is a talented author and I will be looking for more from her in the future.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book and was already afraid it might be a bit too much on the kinky side. Fortunately it didn't get too dark or too kinky for my taste.
I really liked Alli. She was smart, independent and knows what she wants. On the other side we have Micah, billionaire with a dark side. To be honest I wasn't a big fan of him. There isn't anything special that really bothered me about him but I just wasn't able to build a connection with him and he was definetely hard to grasp.
The love story developed really quicky, a bit too fast for my liking. To me it also lacked in chemistry and I missed some sparks between Allie and Micah.
I also got a bit annoyed with the drama produced by simple misunderstandings and the characters not talking to each other.
Overall the book was enjoyable to read but it couldn't get into it completely.
