Today Will Be Different presents a hilarious and heart-filled story of reinvention and sisterhood as Eleanor Flood's plans go awry, leading her on a day of unexpected encounters, family secrets, and new beginnings.
Today will be different is the first book that I have read by Maria Semple.. I had heard good things about her previous books but knew very little about this one. The main character is wife, mother and all round stressed woman Eleanor Flood who is just about keeping up with life. She tries to stay positive and tells herself that 'today will be different'. The book follows one day in her life where she has to contend with a missing husband and a sick child. Throughout the book there are flashbacks to Eleanor's past which give you an idea of how she became the person that she is.
The book was funny, clever and at times quite deep but the main character wasn't very likeable and I think the book was rather predictable. Nice easy read but didn't blow me away.
