I requested this one back in the day as I had every intention of reading it. However, its been years and I still haven't gotten around to it and while I feel guilty at not reviewing a book I think that I need to admit to myself that I won't be reading this one anytime soon....if at all.

I read this book last year I think (or maybe the year before that?), but forgot to get around to reviewing it. As a whole, the story was really entertaining, I enjoy Tessa Bailey's writing, I've read other books by her and I've enjoyed them. She created such fun family moments, which is why I really liked this one as well, especially with such a strangely dysfunctional one.

While the insta-love part irritated me, considering how the story spanned like 4 or 5 days? But other than that, I loved the insecurities both leads had and how Tessa highlighted them in first person where we could see the thoughts whirling in their heads, their issues and personal struggles with their own self-worth as well as their goals in life and where they're headed. That really struck a bell with me, since it's something we all have gone through at some point or the other.

Definitely a fun read!

Oh Tessa Bailey does it again, she has written another hot and fun romance. I liked Rita but I loved Jasper, he has a bad boy reputation that he is trying to overcome, but it’s hard when everyone knows your history, I found Jasper to be sweeter than a lot of Tessa’s other bad boys which was a little unexpected. While I've liked her other male characters there was something extra about Jasper that endeared me to him.

I especially liked Jasper and Rita together, they each have their own issues that seem to get in the way of them being together, but they actually communicate and work through what is going on, I get frustrated when stupid issues arise that could be fixed if characters just talked to each other, so I was really happy with how Jasper and Rita interacted.

This was overall a really fun and surprisingly sweet romance that I would recommend.

This book was really charming and HOT. Tessa Bailey definitely knows how to talk dirty and to write very steamy love scenes. The mouth on Jasper has him a spot on my book boyfriends list. I really loved this story a lot and I'm eager to continue the stories on all the Clarkson siblings.

Rita Clarkson finds a journal that her deceased mother left behind. In this journal is a wish for her four children to jump into the Hudson on New Year's Day like she did so many years ago. Rita has been having a difficult time coping with life and after her beloved mother's restaraunt goes up in flames she decides that her and her three siblings should take a road trip to New York from California to fulfill their mom's wish from her journal.

After some reluctant grumblings from the siblings the estranged Clarksons head off on a road trip only to have the car break down in Hurley, New Mexico. As the siblings are arguing on the side of the road a hot man on a motorcycle comes to their rescue. Jasper immediately has eyes for Rita and has a lot of tricks up his sleeves to try to show Rita the man beneath and to prove to himself that he is worth more than just a quick roll in the hay.

Jasper is known as the man slut and no one takes him seriously. He has been striving for two years to prove himself that he is worth more and not the town joke. This leads him to try to romance Rita and take things slow so she can see him for who is which leads to almost a cat and mouse type of fun flirting with them while the Clarkson's are "stuck" there for a few days.

Rita and her siblings all sort of go through a bit of self discovery on this trip and they all form and mend a bond between all them. They all grow a little closer and start to understand each other a bit more.

This book has it all, family drama, lust, passion, and humor. Perfect read if you are looking for something light but hot and steamy at the same time. This book defiantly scratched my itch and I will be continuing to find out the other Clarkson's siblings story for sure.

This was an interesting read that gender flipped the "bad reputation" trope. Rita Clarkson has had a bad couple of years. Her cooking show when up in flames and her mother died. She has to travel with her siblings cross country to fulfill her mother's dying wish and the family SUV has broken down in the middle of nowhere. Rescue shows up in the form of Jasper Ellis, a local restauranteur who falls quickly in lust/love with Rita.
Jasper looks at Rita and sees an opportunity for a clean slate. Jasper had been a local ne'er do well and lothario who earned his bad reputation and now loathes it. Rita doesn't have any baggage related to him and his self-confidence desperately needs someone to look at him and see someone worthy of a relationship.

Both characters come with a bit of self-loathing and baggage. Rita has always felt unworthy, her mother was a famous chef and Rita has always felt the inferiority that comes from not being as brilliant as her mother. Jasper has been trying to make a name for his bar and his work and he does not know how to make a fresh start.

The story was enjoyable and fresh with great secondary characters that made me look forward to the continuation of the series.
