In "Big Bad Breakfast", John Currence basically looks at your sad bowl of oatmeal and says, "Not today, friend," delivering a cookbook packed with Southern-inspired breakfast magic that could make even the most dedicated night owl rise and shine. Imagine waking up to Banana-Pecan Coffee Cake or tackling Spicy Boudin and Poached Eggs—it's like brunch went to therapy and came out self-actualized. Currence doesn't just give you recipes; he hands over the keys to his Mississippi breakfast empire and whispers, "Go forth and make mornings delicious again."
Beyond drool-worthy dishes, this book offers storytelling that's as rich as the recipes. Currence introduces quirky regulars from his restaurant, shares hilarious anecdotes, and casually drops breakfast lore like it’s hot syrup on pancakes. You'll feel like you're hanging out at his cozy diner, overhearing stories from regulars while waiting for your biscuit sandwiches—seriously, it's comfort food and comfort reading in one tasty package.
Awarding this gem a tasty 4 out of 5 stars, "Big Bad Breakfast" is a celebration of morning decadence. Sure, some recipes require more than three brain cells and a few extra minutes—probably better for lazy Sundays than frantic weekdays—but that's part of the fun. Breakfast lovers and kitchen adventurers alike will find joy in this delightful collection. It's not just cooking; it's an edible pep talk telling you to slow down, fry some bacon, and embrace mornings like the deliciously caffeinated chaos they are.

Big Bad Breakfast may be my new favorite cookbook. (And North Mississippi Eggs Benedict is my new favorite breakfast-for-dinner.)

The only breakfast book you would ever need! Man was these recipes amazing!! Talk about being excited to wake up on the weekends to cook breakfast! The recipes were very impressive! Things I would have never thought about cooking, let alone cooking for breakfast!

This book was perfect -- recipes, photos, deliciousness -- but had the disconcerting effect of making me want to eat breakfast at any time of day, because it is so enticing!

Great breakfast tips and tricks with recipes. Restaurant style.
